- Patrick RDayton, OH29 contributionsI'm writing this review specifically to thank our tour guide Hassan!! I cannot imagine a better way to experience Egypt than through his knowledgeable eyes. He was thorough and comprehensive in his explanations but had an immense amount patience as well. After all he was effectively herding cats(tourists).
He always explained exactly how many stops he'd talk and that we'd have time after his tour for exploring and pictures. You can tell he's extremely well respected amongst his peers, as many of the other guides knew him and would give way to our group when we got to his next stop in the tour. So we always got to see the most exceptional pieces at every ruin. I specifically just loved Hassan's sense of humor. Hed take jabs at clueless tourists and guides that weren't paying attention. And overall just made the whole thing fun and enjoyable. The whole trip was seamless. I knew exactly what was happening at all times and even though we had a tight schedule to see all the things we wanted to see, it didn't feel overwhelming.
Bottom line if you can get a tour with Hassan, you're in for a treat!! - Adam C14 contributionsMe and my wife did the Giza Pyramids , Sphinx ,Saqqara and Memphis Private Tour with Haidy as our guide. We had an excellent time. Haidy was very kind and patient with us, allowing us to take our time and enjoy the experiences whilst also giving us the important information about each site and answer any questions. We both had a lot of fun and felt like we learned a lot too.
Also worth noting there were stops at the papyrus museum and perfume shop as is usual with these tours, but they weren't as pushy or pressuring us as much as other reviews suggest and was actually a fun experience.
Haidy & the driver arrived on time to pick us up and dropped us off back at our hotel. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Panda48 contributionsWe used Planet Tours for our 13 days Egypt tour in Feb 2025, their agents picked us up from the airport and stayed till the end of our journey till we checked out from Cairo.
Their guides in Cairo, Aswan and Luxor were very knowledgeable and stayed with us till end of the day. I specifically liked our guide Hanny who took us to Old Cairo City Tour and Michele who took us to Giza Pyramids and Sphinx.
There are few things I did not like about Planet Tours:
1. They have a very long day starting at 3am to 8pm, you have to wake up at 3am to catch a flight or a bus to get to Aswan and Cairo, once you arrive at your destination by bus or air (usually 6 hrs from start to finish) they do not take you to the hotel for rest, instead they force you to take the assigned sightseeing till end of the day. This is extremely tiring because the day starts at 3am and ends at 7pm when you come back to your hotel and get up again at 3am next day.
2. Daily Schedules are not given to you in detail till the Guide shows up the morning tour. You have no idea where you are heading the next day till you meet the guide in the morning. This is very confusing.
3. In Luxor and Cairo, they should allow more Hotel times rather than keeping you in the bus or the cruise. It would be better to get more time at hotels.
Overall tour was extremely hectic due to tight schedules if they adjust this, I will give them a 5 star rating.
Guides are reliable and friendly no complaints.
Hotels are good with good food, no complaints.
Flights were good, no complaints.
I will give them a 3 star review because of Hectic Tour Schedules and less time in Hotels. I lived in Cairo for 15 years, so my expectations for a private tour guide are very high, but Mervat surpassed all of them. It was my wife’s first trip to Cairo and I wanted to have a guide with deep historical context and the savvy to help navigate the busy whirlwind of Cairo.
She is extremely knowledgeable, speaks excellent English, and knows all of the ins and outs of the various different sites and destinations. On top of that, her prices are very fair for how great of a guide she is and Mervat is just a delightful human being to work with. She is flexible, accommodating, fun, and kind.
