- JazzumboRomania1,578 contributionsWell curated and organized museum, hosted in an impressive palace. Splendid artifacts crafted during the time of Umayyad, Fatimid, Ayyubid, Mamluk and Ottoman rulers of Egypt are on display. The exhibition include ceramics, fabrics, carpets, ivory, woodcrafts, swords, guns, warrior armoires and helmets and even maritime instruments. By visiting this museum, one can make an idea about the rich Islamic history of Egypt. Descriptions available in both English and Arabic. It's important to mention that Cairo was one of the wealthiest cities in the world during the Mamluk rulers.Written May 31, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mark Vanest13 contributionsA beautiful palace. The detail in each room was simply incredible. Definitely go with a guide. I wasn't planning to do that, but we ended up with one and I'm so glad we did. Context and stories about the place make it come alive.Written August 3, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Samer JAmman, Jordan167 contributionsAn amazing historical palace in cairo dowtown very beautiful. Great architecture and very beautiful gardens . They just opened 2 museums inside the Palace. The weapons musem and the presidential gifts musems both musems are very beautiful we were lucky to have a great support from Mr Safwat the head of guides of the palace who gave us a great information about the palace and the items presented. The only two issues with this palace that it closes early and the main palace is not accessible to public unless you reserve two days earlierWritten May 23, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MBarakatStavanger, Norway21 contributionsWhat a great place to visit, there is a parking which is easy to access, you need to have a mask or you can buy inside, buying tickets was so easy there was no queue at all, for egyptian we paid 60 LE for adult and 30 for kids, and 30 for the car, there is a brioche inside for some quick food, entering the main hall was so easy and the place is air conditioned we had a tour inside the hall where you can see items for all eras starting from Pharos time till Coptic egypt, Islamic egypt and till mohamed ali era, then at the lower level you can see all the mummies which are incredible some of them still have hair and teeth till now, the whole place is hilarious but the most fascinating one was there was an artificial limp which was done in the pharaoh era. I really loved the place, you can also hire someone who can give you a tour for the whole place and explain everything we did this for 400 LE. I totally recommend this placeWritten July 25, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- jsthoustonHouston, TX6,148 contributionsOf the houses and palaces we visited in Cairo this was our favorite. A maze of rooms, what it must have been like to grow up as a child in a place where one could no doubt disappear and not be easily found. The wood work is amazing and the interior courtyards peaceful and relatively cool. Only maybe 20 to 25 of the rooms are open but that is enough to convey how the rice in Cairo lived 300 and more years ago. A Wonderful place for anyone interested in architecture to visit. We spent a bit over an hour taking in the marvelous ceilings, doors while going up and down and all around.Written May 1, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ManalCairo, Egypt5 contributionsNice but could be bigger than this. Video room was not working. The group before was so noisy and no one cared to tell them to lower their voice. We are in a museum after all.Written June 21, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Shobha M19 contributionsThe tour was well executed and covered most of the places of interest but 3 day Cairo and 3 day Nile cruise with sightseeing was quite hectic . Our egyptologist (guide) Temier was pleasant and shared extensive details of each monument..We took only hot air balloon ride from the optional visits and utilised the time to relax and catch on sleep. Almost everyday one has to leave at 4am for visits.Because of tight schedule one to rush through visits with little time left for shopping and photography.
Another important point is you need to pay extra for CAMERA...not for phone cameras.
You may be discouraged to go inside King pyramid but after travelling so far , it's worth a visit unless you have severe back n knee issues. It's not as difficult or claustrophobic inside ..Written April 12, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Emma B3 contributionsVery shut building (April 2022) no phone calls went through. Local explained contents have moved to NMEC so we got a taxi there. Whilst it's sad to lose a unique and beautiful museum, the displays at NMEC were very good and I recognized many of the pieces from the Textile museum.Written April 18, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Douglas KMadison, WI167 contributionsMost of the reviews of this museum are by people who were visiting the Egyptian Museum. King Tut - Egyptian Museum. Mummies- Egyptian Museum. Most of the photos are of The Egyptian Museum. Photo of the hours and prices for the Egyptian Museum, you guessed it, The Egyptian Museum, not the National Geographic Museum.
How can so many people be so clueless? This is very sad.Written February 20, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. They don't push you to buy something if you don't want.
