What travelers are saying
- stevebintleyBedford, UK9,144 contributionsA great spot in the city which everyone should visit. I didn’t find it too busy on a weekend morning, so don’t let the prospect of crowds put you off. There’s loads of monuments throughout the area to admire, meaning there’s much more to appreciate than the view. Which is of course incredible! The market at the rear has plenty of souvenir choices and the food options have plenty of choice including traditional favourites. It felt a safe area all the time I was there and I’d classify as a “must-visit”!Written January 13, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ksufan88Wichita, KS6,963 contributionsThis group of completely free museums links several old buildings together. As you walk around, you will likely cross back and forth between the Old Mint, Botero Museum, and an art collection. There are a few signs in both Spanish and English, but most everything is Spanish only, which is understandable. We made sure to be there for the daily English tour at 3 PM which departs from the Art museum entrance. The tour covered a few highlights of all 3 museums but definitely gave us a much better understanding of the artist, Fernando Botero. Pictures are allowed everywhere in the museum except for one room that contains impressive religious relics.Written December 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Travelaround59London, UK2,053 contributionsOur hotel (Hip and Trendy according to our travel agent!) happen to be in this area so we walked around and is a very nice area with galleries and bars and restaurants and an overall nice vibe. I think is nice to stay in a different area from the more touristy just to try to get the feeling of a city.Written February 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Graham CampbellWashington DC, DC247 contributionsThis is an oasis of beauty and calm in Bogota, where it seems horns are the official soundtrack of the city. It's incredibly cheap to enter and there's plenty of places to sit and relax. The rose garden was beautiful and all of the grounds are incredibly well kept. Just know there's very little English translation, but it's pretty plants and trees so it's not as crucial.
Tip: Entry to the park is very cheap. There's a significant upcharge for the Tropicario which is a building with 6 different biodomes of different plants. You can skip this. It's fine, but we didn't think it was worth the upcharge and it's super humid.Written September 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There’s loads of street sellers around but fortunately none are too pushy and there’s a good number of seating options all of which is clean. I’d highly recommend visiting to see sunset, when the buildings are illuminated in a fantastic glow, but at any time of day its a prime spot.Written January 13, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Just JoeNapa, CA330 contributionsExcellent museum. Fee was super cheap, building has 3 floors full of very old historic timeline artifacts. Ask for an Educational rep who speaks English, it makes a huge difference. All staff were very polite and happy. Museum was actually the national prison from 1874 to 1946. In 1946 they transferred all 5,000 prisoners, renovated the building, and then consolidated the contents of 9 other history buildings into this new national museum. Fantastic photos of that timeline also. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!Written January 14, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ksufan88Wichita, KS6,963 contributionsThis museum is located just downhill from the Mount Monserrate cable car station. We were pleased to discover that admission for seniors (60+) was only 2000 pesos (cash only). Simon Bolivar lived in this house a number of times while he was in Bogota, and it has turned into a very nice museum. Each room had signs in both English and Spanish which added details to what we were seeing. The house and grounds are not all that large, and we were able to view everything in 30 minutes.Written December 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DianaDenver, CO2 contributionsWe were pretty lucky to find a bike with a child's seat at our closest Tembici hub. We rode from 70 up to Usaquen in a light sprinkle. It started to rain harder while we were in Usaquen so we tried to wait it out to no avail. We ended up purchasing a poncho and rain jacket at the Hacienda de Santa Barbara mall and rode back down in the rain. It was an awesome experience and we're so happy we got to be there on a Sunday to experience this!Written June 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
