Beautiful cathedral but unfortunately the inside is all covered up with white cloths I suppose for restoration! So I cannot really comment.
The chapel next door instead of was fully visibile in its grandeur: certainly a statement of the wealth of colonial Bogota.

The view, the undulating road, the flora, the quietness. We did not attend Montserrat for that reason- a. our limited interest in creed anthology and the crowds. We still view serenity as a serendipitous event in tourism. Without becoming didactic that is what has been lost through social media, nomadic events and so on. The views of the altiplanic lake which is the setting on the Bogota Savana, the depth of the field and the structure of this town offered excellent vistas. Now the surrounding structures and there state of being is another matter. A different form of poetry of neglect versus poetry of abuse.

Perhaps the nicest of a cluster of three churches on Carrera Septima. Its construction was completed in 1780 when Nueva Granada was still firmly controlled by Spain and the Franciscan order was playing an important role in Christianizing the local population.

The rococo style interior shows exquisite wood carvings and sculptures among them San Fernando with a sword underscoring that Christianity came with force in case of need.

There are a few churches in Bogotá that are done in this style and colour. This one is not in a great part of town and has a neglected feel to it which is a shame.

This small historic church completed in 1690 was part of a convent complex belonging to the Dominican order. The convent was converted into a hospital. Eventually the church became a parish church serving Catholics in Las Aguas neighborhood.

The architecture is typical Spanish colonial style with a white plastered facade, rectangular nave and niches at the side. The main altar draws the attention of the believers as it is skillfully carved and gilded.

Sundays at 11:00 AM there is mass in English.

This Catholic church was completed in 1959 and serves the parishioners of La Soledad neighborhood. Moreover the church attracts many Catholics from elsewhere as they believe in miracles that can cure disease. I visited on the 14th day of the month when huge crowds visit the church. From early morning till dusk every half hour there is mass. The same ritual is conducted every 14th day of a month.

The church is dedicated to Alfonso María de Ligorio, an Italian bishop of Naples and founder of the Redemptorists. He died in 1787 and was later declared a saint and 'doctor of the church'. Most pilgrims refer to the site as Iglesia del Señor de los Milagros de Buga. They seem to think that if your belief is strong enough the Lord of Miracles will help and cure. Many prayers are required as well.

Since 1606 the Franciscan order has had a presence at this site, though the complex is of much younger date. The neo-colonial church, the chapel and the cloister were realized in the early 1900s. Perhaps explaining why the structures are in such good condition. The complex with white plastered walls and red tiled roofs stands out, as it amidst modern skyscrapers, almost like an island.

Visited on a late Saturday afternoon when a marriage was consecrated (a popular timing for marriages).

This is a small modest colonial church dedicated to Santa Barbara. The story about its foundation in 1565 sounds a bit odd. Spanish conqueror Don Juan de Céspedes who lived at the present location of the church had it built to thank Santa Barbara for sparing the lives of him and his family when his house was struck by lightning. "Only" a slave was killed. What a relief...

The interior of the church is simple, but feels rather authentic. Red, white and gold colors dominate. Many of the parishioners work in prisons as guards.
