The Paloquemao Market tour was so much fun! Our guide was Nicholas and he was quite knowledgeable about fruits and vegetables. We were easily able to find him at the gate of the market, as directed. It is a HUGE maze of a market. Thank goodness we had him leading our way! We had quite a fun walk through it. I suggest wearing comfortable shoes with rubber soles, as there were wet spots in some areas. The colors, the fresh smells, the people! Ultimately, he had a small room reserved for us with a table and comfortable chairs. A huge platter of fruits magically appeared and we tried them all, one by one. Nicholas fully explained how each fruit is grown, all about it, how it is used, and then we opened each and tasted it. Zoweey! I always thought of fruits as sweet. I had no idea! Some were sweet and some were bitter. Some were almost savory and one turned my mouth inside out! (Lulo, a lemon-like fruit). I would take this tour again!

The fruit tasting was very interesting. We learned a bit about the city of BogatĂ  and the different architectures. The food we cooked was delicious and I look forward to recreating the same at home.

Esteban was a very knowledgeable guide. Traffic was much less than expected so we arrived with more time than we planned for, but Esteban took us on a stroll and told us more about the candelaria area.

This time Daniel took us to a traditional food marketplace called Paloquemado, where we had he opportunity to taste different local fruits and super tasty traditional food made in the same place.

The main highlight for this tour was Linda, our guide. She was the most lovely and kind person- very knowledgeable and helpful too. She is an asset to your service.

Our first stop was Madre was a fantastic introduction, with a fusion of Italian specialties with Colombian flavors. At Prudencia we watched the chefs skillfully prepare our meal with fresh, local ingredients and the meal was delicious. Overall, this gourmet tour in La Candelaria is a must-do for anyone looking to explore the vibrant food scene of Bogota, being a perfect blend of tradition and innovation.
