- The original and quite old Hejaz Railroad Station remains a strong remembrance of the first Hejaz Railroad that the Turks built back before the turn of the century. The original purpose of the Hejaz Railroad was for both the Turkish military and for transport of the Hajj Pilgrims to Madina.
The Damascus Hejaz Station remains in very, very good condition and has a great number of memorabilia both inside and outside.
I simply adore the architecture of this building and I understand the person named Fernando de Aranda wasn’t a trained architect instead an engineer working on the Hejaz Railroad.
It is so relaxing inside as you are in a major and very busy city and once inside you can relax and image what it must have been like over a hundred years ago waiting for your steam locomotive to arrive and to take you to some exotic locations within in Syria; Jordan or Saudi Arabia.
The two ticket windows remain and a testament of how great the restoration was of this famous building.
Unfortunately all the rail lines which were to the rear of the building have been removed and so have the many engines and carriages which once served this bustling rail line.
All-in-all it is a very nice and interesting tour to visit the famous Hejaz Railroad Station located just outside the gates of the Old City of Damascus.Written March 11, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- To be honest I was very prudent before the tour, I tried to check the travel agency from different sources, because it was my first travel to a "risky" country (Syria) in my life. I found Marrota and Ayoub very opened about the tour, they answered all my questions within few hours.
During the Syrian journey they have provided an excellent service, they organised everything for us and they also did all the paperwork and logistics. We did not have any incident during the tour, the tour was completely safe, so I can recommend them!!
Our tour guide had a great knowledge about the sights and answered our questions.Written May 11, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- When I visit Syria in February 2019, I walk between old Damascene streets and houses with the best brother, friend and tourist guide in Syria 🇸🇾

Many historic houses in Damascus are still occupied to this day! One of the most prominent features of such houses is the central open courtyard, with a water fountain, seating for the family and guests, and usually an alcove where residents can entertain guests and cool off in the summer.
The situation in Syria is now safe, whoever wants to visit it, communicates with “Mohammad Khair Alkhousi” 🌷 🇸🇾
