- African Stay9 contributionsThe exhibition and collection of Japanese art is superb and it was well worth the hours we spent there.Written November 23, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Onion11Earth12 contributionsHaving read the other reviews here I knew I would be visiting a small gallery, and wasn't expecting much, however I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here, and was really impressed with the artworks on display.
I had never heard of Mané Katz before, and just happened to be in the area.
Yes, the gallery is small, but if you are interested in art I highly recommend a visit. I often feel bombarded and overwhelmed by the amount of art in larger galleries, but here it was quiet, and I could take my time over a smaller number of works.
You could easily do the visit in 10 minutes if you just want to get in and out, but I spent almost an hour here taking in the paintings and really absorbing the different phases of Mané Katz' artworks on display. You can see the influence of many different artists in his work.
The people working there are very nice, and helpful. They don't have much English, but we all managed to understand each other in the end.
There is also a very nice terrace café at the rear of the building, which has a fantastic view over the harbour. I only had a mint tea, which was gorgeous, so I don't know about the food, but it smelt good!
The Tikotin Japanese gallery is just up the road, and you could probably take both in easily in an afternoon.
I recommend you get a Museums card for 70nis which gives you entry to 6 or 7 galleries and museums over a week-long period. The only catch is that you can only visit each gallery/museum once.
Entry to Mané Katz is 25 NIS and The Tikotin is 35, so with just these 2 you'll have nearly made back the 70 NIS, and still have the other galleries to go.
Overall, a lovely experience.

However this is the past and in recent years it has become a leading presentor of social and political exhibitions.
It has also developed a unique formula: Under one heading (the present one is Fake News) it presents a series of exhibits. Some are group exhibits which excel in presenting very good and unknown artists beside well known one both from Israel and abroad. Alongside you will find also mini solo shows. All as mentioned above relate to the overall subject. A real pleasure to visit. Do not count too much on the coffee shop.
Why anyone would want to visit Haifa is still a mystery but the museum is a legitimate reason.Written November 5, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
