The reality is the actual exhibit an incredible insight into at least the last 500 years of interaction between the Ottomans, Turkey and Europe. And so while the collection may lack a narrative for a western audience the actual quantity of items that they have from different eras is well worth a look. The museum contains a lovingly curated collection that takes visitors through the naval history of Turkey, through the present day. The collection is fascinating, and the atmosphere is engaging. Outside they have just about every plane used in Turkey since WW2. Mostly military, but some civil. If you are into history, ships, and want to learn more about Ottoman history, this museum is worth visiting. Outside of the museum there is big open air plane field, there are about 30 planes from the history.
