If you’re a cat lover and u left your pet at home u can treat your loneliness by loving the cats from the coffee shop. I think that at least one cat is responsible with one table.

Beautiful carpet store outside the Grand Bazaar. We learned a great deal about this ancient art of hand-woven carpets from the sales manager [Salman (sp?)] whose family has been in the business of Turkish carpets for generations.

We learned about the weaving and the dye-making process, and the master weaver was also there to show us how the knotting process worked (although our sales manager actually showed us how to weave while she left her seat)

The selection of carpets was extraordinary andd the service was highly professional. Recommended by our local guide who himself had bought a carpet from Vezirhan for his parents, we purchased a beautiful carpet that will grace our living room for years to come.

As mentioned by others, touring the building where the store is located is an experience in itself!

Seven stories, 220 shops filled to overflowing with antiques. Shopping heaven? Not really because it's mostly large scale - furniture, chandeliers, carpets, huge ceramics - but there are some "smalls" that can be fitted into your luggage. However the experience of the place itself repays tracking it down. It's near the Aksaray tram stop or Metro and locals will direct you to it if you ask for the "ANTICA" or the Horhor Bit Pazari. Free entry.
It's not all 18th/19th century, there's some great mid 20th century furniture - Eames chairs, cool Scandi 1960's furniture, light fittings and more. Your only problem is how to get it home!

I first stopped by Sofa Art & Antiques in 2004. Every visit finds something intriguing, and just as enjoyable is the opportunity to chat with owner Kasif Gundogdu about Turkey and the region's rich, detailed history as well as about contemporary artists. I could spend hours at Sofa. The shop is just outside the Grand Bazaar, but - nothing - at Sofa Art & Antiques is cheap tourist product. Bring your checkbook/credit card, but know what you are getting is quality, a covnersation peice, or something that speaks to you - and every time you experience it post purchase, you'll remember the story Kasif shared about its provenance.

I purchased my first rug from Hakan back in 2000; I bought my most recent one only yesterday. All told, my wife and I have more than a dozen rugs from the best rug merchant in Istanbal and, quite likely, the world. Large Herekes grace our living and dining rooms, a sturdy Hereke runner takes up a hallway. our new Nain is perfect for the family room. Beautiful minature silk rugs hang from our walls. Kilims and tribals are scattered around bedrooms. All are of top quality, backed by Hakan's satisfaction guarantee. And, on top of it all, Hakan is just a good guy. Pleasant, friendly and generous with his time. Buy his wares; you'll be glad you did.

This shop is a hidden gem! We randomly ran into this store, while on a side street near Taksim, and found ceramics for our home and gifts. They are very reasonably priced and have a great selection, including plates with gold and rugs. We went to other places, but the prices were ridiculous and the seller was pushy unlike here.

A few of our ceramics cracked on the way back home since we had to check in our luggage last minute (that's a different story), and the store owner, Hasan, was so helpful and shipped out replacements to us quickly.

I would highly recommend this shop if you are in the area! We love everything that we got here and had a great experience!

I was simply not expecting how lovely this shop turned out to be. If you live in the area or if you are staying at the Hammamhane nearby, ladies you must not miss this store- it is delightful and I left with two pairs of chic vintage shoes-a rarity for me but this place has true GEMS. Over the moon. Go!
