- Kekin2011Mumbai, India302 contributionsWe were here on an early Saturday morning. It was quite busy but in a good way. People were walking, exercising and sunbathing as well. Our hotel, Berjaya was right beside the beach and we had an over-bridge to reach the beach from our hotel (there was a train track under the bridge). There were a few restaurants that were literally on the beach itself.
It's a fairly long beach. There were some watersports activities happening. I remember jet skiing. Although, we didn't do any.Written January 31, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The hotel upgraded me and my spouse to a room with a jacuzzi !!! The balcony is a cherry on the top - to feel the sea breeze or watch the beautiful moon light . Absolutely stunning place for honeymooners and family too. Extremely safe for Solo Women travelers. Breakfast had a lovely spread of continental and Srilankan cuisine . Has some of the best fine dine restaurants of Srilanka in the hotel with different themes. Stay and service is superb with the staff attending to guests courteously. Sorry the visit was earlier than Dec 2021 but trip advisor does not give the choice of a date earlier than Dec 2021. But I am sure they would be offering good services even now as I visited this Hotel multiple times between 2017 to 2020Written November 28, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Pradeep srilankaColombo, Sri Lanka1 contributionThis is an ideal place to relax your free time. When you enter the park you can see the image of lord Buddha and the image will make your inner peace.
Even at the hot midday you never feel the sun under the shady trees of the park.Written May 8, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The Zoo is very crowded during the holidays. If you visit the zoo in the day time on a weekday you can enjoy than a holiday. Too limited space for some animals. The zoo is open from 8. am to 10 pm during weekends (Usually 8.am to 6 pm).Written February 11, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - olivehooverTreviso, Italy1,444 contributionsBeira lake is an artificial lake, close to the centre of Colombo.
It has a Buddhist temple inside the lake that you can visit paying an entry fees.
Besides the Seema Malakaya Temple, there is Lovers’ Island that you can reach through a bridge.
The island is surrounded by trees with a nice breeze. It is a great idea to enjoy some hours at the island, avoiding the humidity and pollution of the city.Written April 6, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Around the tanks you see birds flying over or resting on trees. Some cement made benches are for seating but be prepared to walk, stand. Good to have your camera with you and some water if you intend to stay long. For location search Thalangama lake on google maps.
Apparently there are few mammals too, during night time such as jackal. I have never seen one. Monkeys, civets and porcupines too may be in the area surrounding the lakeWritten April 8, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The river flows from the Sri pada mountains to the city of Colombo and supplies most of the water requirements of the city.Written January 11, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Christian2 contributionsThis could be a nice place if it wasn't for the garbage all over it. The beach Is a waste dump. The walking path in the back is not as bad but the view on the garbage ruins everything.Written August 15, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - KokoBelGhent, Belgium1,434 contributionsStaying at an apartment in Wellawatte, this was the nearest beach. A rail track runs all along the beach, and you need to be careful when crossing the tracks. It's far from a spectacular beach, but it's close to the city and easily reachable via the Wellawatta Railway Station.
Walking all along Wellawatte Beach on a cloudy November day, I didn't spot a single tourist and only a handful of locals. The center of activity was the small fishermen's pier, where plenty of colorful fishing boats were beached.Written May 3, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is beautifully designed, spotlessly clean and over looks a marina. You will be able to have a fantastic view of the Colombo skyline, and multiple places to take great photos. Only a section of the promenade is currently open to the public, with more to be opened later including a beach area.Written January 15, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
