- Kekin2011Mumbai, India311 contributionsWe were here on an early Saturday morning. It was quite busy but in a good way. People were walking, exercising and sunbathing as well. Our hotel, Berjaya was right beside the beach and we had an over-bridge to reach the beach from our hotel (there was a train track under the bridge). There were a few restaurants that were literally on the beach itself.
It's a fairly long beach. There were some watersports activities happening. I remember jet skiing. Although, we didn't do any.Written January 31, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Should try the street food.Written September 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Mel SBristol, UK211 contributionsNice place if you want some quiet reflection. Full of dating couples so romance in the air. Very well maintained park. Easy to park as wellWritten January 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- cabeysiriwardhaneWestern Province, Sri Lanka11 contributionsThe aquarium is done very nicely. Inside the aquarium very calm and quiet. The Zoo is very crowded during the holidays. If you visit the zoo in the day time on a weekday you can enjoy than a holiday. Too limited space for some animals. The zoo is open from 8. am to 10 pm during weekends (Usually 8.am to 6 pm).Written February 11, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Peter MMelbourne, Australia1,293 contributionsBeira Lake is a lake in the centre of Colombo. The average depth is 18 feet and it is surrounded by many large businesses in the cityWritten August 23, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Let's Go SightseeingNoida, India2,910 contributionsThe Port City Promenade is family friendly with many options for recreation. I entered from the Plaza, which had a number of cafes and some lively music playing. Emerging on the other side, I found myself face to face with the Indian Ocean.
I turned left and began to walk. In the distance, I could see the Shangri La and the One Galle Face. I think I saw a couple of adventurers enjoying kitesurfing too. It made me really happy to see the Port City was dog–friendly with a dedicated play area for dogs!
But it was difficult to walk on the sand with my shoes on. So, I moved to the cycling/ walking track running parallel to the beach. The evening breeze was soothing. I spent a good half an hour walking up and down the track, abrupting at least a couple of times a prewedding photoshoot that was going on.Written July 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The park spread over a large area. You will find many things there, such as, play ground, children's play area, number of shops and restaurants (toys, snacks, beverages, food, etc.), timber deck over sea, mangrove, fresh water lake, walking tracks, bicycle tracks, etc.
Another interesting thing is, Colombo harbour can be seen from their partially. Ships can be clearly seen coming in and going out. If you are nearby, this is a good place to spend an evening.
Parking spaces are available more than enough here.Written August 4, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A rail track runs all along the beach, and you need to be careful when crossing the tracks. It's far from a spectacular beach, but it's close to the city and easily reachable via the Wellawatta Railway Station.
Walking all along Wellawatte Beach on a cloudy November day, I didn't spot a single tourist and only a handful of locals. The center of activity was the small fishermen's pier, where plenty of colorful fishing boats were beached.Written May 3, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The river flows from the Sri pada mountains to the city of Colombo and supplies most of the water requirements of the city.Written January 11, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
