This part is totally different than Pettah. It was the centre of Dutch and Portuguese colonialism, so we saw some colonial style buildings but also many modern luxury hotels. Today it is the seat of bankers and traders, and home to Sri Lanka's own twin towers.

The Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall, is a convention center located in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Built between 1970 and 1973, the convention centre was a gift from the People's Republic of China in memory of Solomon Ridgeway Dias Bandaranaike, Prime Minister.

A nice place to visit to get a feel of the same. Lot of fairs and programs are organised in the premises. There are food options here. Tourists could have the same in itinerary for a drive by as well just to look at the modern architecture.

This building is opposite the famous Viharamahadevi Park.

The building is definitely a landmark especially with the Buddha in the park facing it.

Had a fantastic tour with Mark Forbes, he is incredibly knowledgeable, passionate and has a great sense of humour which kept us equally informed and entertained throughout the tour. We even got lucky and were taken to a speakeasy to try some Arrack. I also loved how he had an iPad to show us photos he had taken over the years so we could see how the area has changed. Couldn’t recommend Mark more highly.
