We had a wonderful 4 hours with our driver, Maran and were very pleased with his friendly manner and all the information about the various sites we passed during the tour. We were especially interested in how coffee and tea is cultivated in Sri Lanka and loved tasting the different flavours. The taste of the wood apple and the way it is eaten by breaking the outer shell was the first time we had experienced this. The food he led us to was nice and spicy and we only wish we had a big enough appetite to finish it all. We will certainly recommend your trip and your hospitality to any friends we have who intend to visit yr beautiful country.

Such an amazing experience. Piumi is so lovely and taught us so many different dishes as well as the essentials to Sri Lankan cooking. She was such an amazing host and made for such a great, hands on experience. I would highly recommend this experience for anyone wanting something authentically Sri Lankan.

I got that tour as a Birthday present from a good friend. So we met Nim (our guide) in Colombo, went to different local food places and tried typical Sri Lankan food, incl. Tamil food. We really loved it. Had good conversations and a very good company together. Afterwards we went to a pub together and had a funny night ;-) On the next day we met again at a market to buy all ingredients to try to cook curries, Rotti and Sambol ourselves. Was so awesome.
I highly recommend this Tour and cooking classes. Thx Nim for this wonderful experience.

Our market tour and cooking school was an amazing experience and one we won’t forget soon! The tour showed us the best of Sri Lankan produce and it was great to try some new ingredients.

The school is very hands-on and takes place in a well-equipped kitchen and dining room. We learned to make a variety of Sri Lankan curries using traditional utensils. Overall, a wonderful experience and one we would fully recommend to anyone visiting Sri Lanka

This cooking class with the rustic tour guide was my birthday gift from my husband as he knows that I love different cooking experiences. It was one amazing experience with fun and knowledge. We visited Colombo’s biggest vegetable market as the first part of our tour to pick our own veggies. And that is the biggest market ever I have visited. Chef, Nim was a cool character with a great sense of humour and he did a great job in giving us the best experience. We cooked 3 curries with rice which turned out to be the most delicious local food we tasted. Nim, gave us some simple tips and techniques that we can follow when making Sri Lankan food at home. I would say this is the best birthday gift I got in years.

I met Shiva at 10am having exchanged a few WhatsApp messages the day before. The tour was great - so many tastings of food ( depends how you count 11 - 20) and in places I would never have found for myself (7) . Shiva was friendly and informative and we went a variety of places.
Highlights were an amazing samosa ( warm and moist and really tasty) at a popular short eats cafe, strange salty, sour and spicy fruits from a street vendor and the freshly made cassava chips at the market. The guy sliced the chips straight into a wok of oil. We finished the tour in a traditional restaurant where I was made to feel welcome by our lady host. A lovely Sri Lankan adventure.

We partook in the market tour, cooking experience, and meal with Shasikala. Both Shasikala and her mother couldn’t have been more welcoming and eager to share their food traditions and culture with us. The market tour was not rushed, and we had opportunities to purchase some spices and tea to take home as well. The market was very local (we were the only tourists) and a nice manageable size.
Back at the house Shasikala and her mother demonstrated the techniques used to cook several Sri Lankan dishes, some of which were new to us as well. Shasikala was very helpful, and adjusted the menu to suit our preferences without issue. We were thrilled that we got to cook many of the great dishes we had enjoyed during our holiday.
I highly recommend Shasikala’s cooking class to anyone who wants to learn to cook Sri Lankan home style food in an authentic setting from a host who is proud to share her food traditions with visitors.

Hi, I had an amazing time with Piumi at her place.
She instructed me on how to cook authentic Sri Lankan food, she let me cook and followed step by step. We made a 6-meal course over 3 hrs but honestly I think we did even more! Such an interesting cruising, a mix of flavours and spices combined. Atmosphere was very friendly and genuine. Her parents (and dog!) were very interested too, so I guess I did everything properly!!

Try and enjoy your own creations, dive into the Sri Lankan cuisine.

Excellent city tour with Kusal which included water, local beers, fresh coconut & a fantastic local lunch.
Kusal was very professional & polite. Knowledgeable about the places he took us to. He was in touch with us very soon after booking giving very clear information about meeting place etc.
The Tuk Tuk was very clean, hand sanitizer & tissues were provided.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Kusal & his service.

The tour didn't even happen. No response on the whatsapp messages prior to the date and no one showed up this morning to take us on the tour. So disappointed

Was booked a Mixology Masterclass (off the Silver Aisle website) with the #DrunkenLankan mix-master himself, which I attended with a fellow bevvy lover. True to title, Ash showed up sloshed, which only enhanced the entertainment factor of the evening. Each cocktail was brilliant and wonderfully flavourful — the mixologist also talked us through recipes, unique ingredients, specific techniques, and historical facts which made for an interesting and engaging session.

Seeing as the theme of this experience was ‘Mix it like a Lankan’, every cocktail was based on local spirits from arrack, to gin, to vodka. I was particularly impressed by the twist on typically ‘whisky’ based drinks, i.e. the Arrack Old Fashioned and the Arrack Sour. A fave of mine was the classic Espresso Martini, and the one he mixed for us was delicious! There was also a delightful ‘Watermelon Curry Leaf Cooler’ which combined gin and ginger in a manner I didn’t know could be so good. It’s worth mentioning that although I’m not a fan of passionfruit personally, the welcome drink (which was a surprising mix of prosecco and passionfruit) somehow managed to convert this unbeliever. The hours flew by, which is why we didn’t get the chance to make our own cocktails – this was our only regret (however, fret not as this is generally included!).

Tip: Try and tie down an early date because this guy tends to get very busy… Once he makes it happen, it’s super fun!
