- Rabih ZRome, Italy185 contributionsThe temple has lots of expensive offerings, to the extent they were expanding the temple when we reached. A good visit when in colomboWritten December 25, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- shenn09County Meath, Ireland304 contributionsIt’s a huge temple but I was a bit lost with it all. I recommend a guide if unsure of Buddhist culture. I got the general idea on this quick visit but was still a bit unsureWritten May 22, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Andrew SSheffield, UK786 contributionsWe came here as part of our guided tour around Sri Lanka, what an amazing place, I have never seen so much fish drying in the sun in one place before, you can smell the distinctive smell of the drying fish, from quite a distance. There was quite a selection of fish the day we were there and it was nice to be able to see the way they were prepared and put out to dry in the sunWritten April 23, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Ravi WColombo, Sri Lanka317 contributionsOne of greatest heritages in Sri Lankan history. One of the best well kept fortress in ancient Ceylon. Lot of places to see & enjoy. Specially the well designed restaurants, some of the world’s best boutique hotels, shops.Written May 29, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Rohan Dias154 contributionsFrom the city centre its walkable to the starting point. From the starting point its about a 30 minute hike and very easy compared to ella rock hike. Lovely view from the top towards the beautiful ella rock.Written June 22, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- TravellingSLduo9 contributionsVisited around 15 years ago and hiked the whole trail. When we visited in 2020 vehicles were allowed to travel to the Ohiya entrance. Even thought it's very far from the Nuwara Eliya town, the visit is worth it if you are a true nature lover. We were unable to see any leopards though.Written June 25, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Reema12345Gurugram (Gurgaon), India73 contributionsVisited on Dec 9, the lagoon is serene and green. Lots of birds can be seen, also saw monitor lizards and monkeys. The boat ride was fantastic, with Ave Maria boat ride. The boat owner was very knowledgeable and knew the waters very well, including where it was shallow enough to even walk on water! Garbage is visible in some places. Best to visit on a sunny/ cloudy day. Wear sunscreen as the sun can be scorching. Lagoon ride takes almost an hour. Our boat owner added the ride out to the ocean as well for additional price. Boat ride takes about 4000-6000lkr depending on if u want to go to the ocean.
Worth a visit.Written December 9, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Amandine P4 contributionsOne of the best beaches we have been so far in the world. Nice restaurants on the beach and do not forget to climb the parrot rock to see the panorama view of the mirissa sea.Written May 20, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Andrew SSheffield, UK786 contributionsSuch a peaceful place, it is beautifully preserved with beautiful paintings inside the main temple telling the storey of Buddha and the magnificent tree in the centre which is approximately 2500 years oldWritten April 23, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- Kate85 contributionsWe hired a boat from Diksan Boat Tours and went for 1-hour tour. Diksan is a real hawk-eye and he showed us a lot of pretty local birds. The only thing that spoils the overal nice experience is a huge landfill site located right at the river bank - it attracts lots of birds indeed, however not the kind you would like to see travelling to such exotic location.Written January 12, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Skeney57Sydney, Australia21,349 contributionsA beautiful Church in an area with a multitude of Churches & Religious statuary on public display. Our guide said that Christians only make up a small percentage of the SL Population but this area is a mini Vatican City !! It was a school day so we kept it low key but worth a quick visit !Written April 8, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- DarioSaraBRome, Italy3,003 contributionsVery windy local beach. The sea is not one of the best in Sri Lanka, but the atmosphere is beautiful. Characteristic on weekends, full of local people who come here to swim and spend a day at the beach.Written April 8, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Kekin2011Mumbai, India302 contributionsWe were here on an early Saturday morning. It was quite busy but in a good way. People were walking, exercising and sunbathing as well. Our hotel, Berjaya was right beside the beach and we had an over-bridge to reach the beach from our hotel (there was a train track under the bridge). There were a few restaurants that were literally on the beach itself.
It's a fairly long beach. There were some watersports activities happening. I remember jet skiing. Although, we didn't do any.Written January 31, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - robiwattsSeaford, UK552 contributionsWe were led round by a guide who’s claim to fame was that he knew Rick Stein and had appeared on his programme. Quite fishy and an amazing amount of fish drying in the sun I began to wonder who actually ate them all! There was acres of fish laid out. The walk through the fresh market just showed the huge variety for sale in all shapes and sizes. Really worth a visit and highly really recommended.Written April 17, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
