- ZimminaroundtheworldOkinawa Prefecture, Japan1,982 contributionsThe Chinggis Khan Statue Complex is well worth a day trip from Ulaanbaatar. This is the biggest equestrian statue in the world. From a distance it is impressive, I recommend going inside, walk to the top of the statue, and visit the museum. I learned a lot here.Written October 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Remus C. H. A.Singapore, Singapore682 contributionsKind of off roads trip. It was raining in mid June and the soils were slippery. Main focus is the to see the land of the wild horse. There are two main trails. Shorter trail about 36km. Longer trail 80km long. Animals such as Przewalski’s horse, marmot, deer and Ancient tombs and big rocks stone.Written June 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ingeborg56Oslo, Norway2,390 contributionsWhen we were there, there were lots of young boys who were competing in boxing. There were lots of people in traditionell costumes who were celebrating something. In addition there were some young people playing both volleyball and football. So it is absolutely a very popular meeting place for the locals. I found the square very impressive. I was also positively surprised that there was a public and free restroom in one of the corners of the square.Written July 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - tripdebbietMenlo Park, CA101 contributionsGreat representation of Mongolia's fascinating history from Prehistory of Mongolia, Mongolian Empire, 17th-early 20th century Mongolia, Socialist Mogolia to Democratic Mongolia. Cost was 20,000 MNT (less than $6), well worth it. Went on a Sunday and it was empty. Conveniently located across the SĂĽkhbaatar Square, the central square in Ulaanbaatar.Written November 23, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ingeborg56Oslo, Norway2,390 contributionsIt is very similar to other monestaries we have visited in other countries, and one has to buy tickets to enter the monestary if you are not a buddhist. The buddha statue is really nice.Written July 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- ZimminaroundtheworldOkinawa Prefecture, Japan1,982 contributionsVisiting the Gandantegchinlen Monastery in Ulaanbaatar is a must. For me, it was an easy walk from the main square, about 20-30 minutes. There is an entrance fee to go inside the main hall, but it's worth it. The Migjid Janraisig Sum statue is spectacular. This statue is huge, it reminds me of statues I've seen in Japan. You can walk around the statue. It's really impressive and highly recommended.Written November 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ZimminaroundtheworldOkinawa Prefecture, Japan1,982 contributionsI visited Zaisan Memorial while on a tour. It is further from the city center so a mode of transportation is a must. Once here, you have to walk up many stairs to get to the memorial. It's very soviet but I found it to be interesting because I've never seen anything quite like it. I like to keep an open mind. Outside of the memorial, it's a great place to get views of Ulaanbaatar. Maybe one of the best and most accessible viewing areas. It is an effort to get here but worth it.Written November 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- kseye8181Petaling Jaya, Malaysia1 contributionComing from the Tropics, be prepared for a very brutal cold weather during winter, from 30c to
- 26c is not a joke, although the scenery will take your breath away. Since flight from UB to Murun was only operational in March, I took a 700km bus ride to get a kick out of it... what more to say but to marvel the winteric scenery.. My destination is a 150 km from the south shore at Khatgal to the North Khuvsgul Tourist camp across the lake at Khankh. Awesome sight of the frozen lake a short hike on the ridge . The only restaurant is 3 or 4 km away at a Soum center nearby..and the road to the Russian border.. Be prepared to experience a different dimension of Winter Lake Khuvsgul.Written February 26, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It flows for more than 10 kilometers to the west and is called the Hongor river.
On a windless and sunny day, the sand of Khongor is really beautiful. When traveling through the sand dunes, start at the nearest hill, and it is easiest to follow the crest of the hill from one hill to the other. Because of the loose sand, it is impossible to climb steeply, and the legs get tired easilyWritten March 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The walk is pretty manageable as mostly flat terrain. However, the ice sheet can be slippery so have to be really careful. Can see the real pikachu as well if you have keen eyes.Written May 31, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kai WahMalaysia3,823 contributionsThis national park is a must for nature lovers when traveling to Mongolia. We did a road trip from Ulaanbaatar which was a long journey with bumpy road. But the scenery and countless sights of animals such as camels, horses, goats, cattle, etc along the journey makes the whole trip well-worth it. The national park covers these areas with different beauty of natures:
1) Yol Valley - where is good for 1-3 hours of hiking to enjoy the natural gorge with some wild animals sighted, such as yaks, wild rabbits, ibex, eagles, etc
2) Khongor Els - where is the 2nd largest sand dunes in the world. Climbing the sand dunes and sitting on top of the sand dune to watch the sunset is one of the most unforgettable experiences we have during our trip.
3) Baganzag - where is also called the Flaming Cliffs as the Cliffs look like they are on fire especially during sunset. Fossils of dinosaurs were found here at this site.
Minimum of 3 days to stay at this national park to complete the above-stated 3 main highlights in this region. The best way to appreciate these nature is to hire local tour guide and driver for the hassle-free experience where you can completely immerse into the wonder of natures!!!Written November 26, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
