Cu Chi is best known for its historic Cu Chi Tunnels, an intricate underground network used by the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War. Visitors can explore the tunnels, learn about their significance, and experience a glimpse of life during wartime. The tunnels are surrounded by lush forests, making it both an educational and scenic destination.

After a visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels, head to Viet India Restaurant, located nearby at Ban Dành. The restaurant offers a delightful fusion of Indian vegetarian flavors, prepared with pure vegetable oil, homemade ghee, and fresh yogurt and paneer. It’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy a flavorful meal after a day of exploring Cu Chi’s historical landmarks.

The exhibits provide a comprehensive look at the Vietnam War, including displays on war protests and the conflict's impact on South Vietnam. We were particularly struck by the collection of military vehicles, especially the helicopters. The museum offers a Vietnamese perspective on the war, which we found informative and thought-provoking. While some displays are graphic, they effectively convey the war's brutality. This museum is a must-visit for couples seeking to understand Vietnam's recent history.

The square in front and to direct view to the cathedral is beautiful, although it is still under construction. Inside you can enjoy some old French architecture. Souvenirs are over price but the post office sells nice stamps and postcards

Ben Thanh market is somewhere you will either love or hate. It is an indoor market that is packed with stalls selling food, tourist souvenirs, clothing, jewellery, tailors that make up suits, etc, etc. The stalls are close together so it can be difficult to work your way through the narrow isles. The prices are perhaps higher than elsewhere but you can bargain them down by 50% or more. The market traders can get quite pushy, not letting you browse in peace and sometimes touching you. However, there is a good choice of merchandise, some of which is good quality, and a discerning shopper can get a good bargain.

This bustling street offers a taste of Saigon's vibrant nightlife. We found a mix of bars, clubs, and street food vendors, creating a lively and energetic atmosphere. Be prepared for crowds and noise, but it's worth experiencing if you're seeking a taste of the city's after-hours scene.

We stopped by here for lunch and found a great range of options. We got some rice and pork from the Thai kitchen. It was freshly cooked and delicious.

The Independence Palace is probably one of the places in Ho Chi Minh City that should be visited, along with the other nearby attractions in District 1. As the historical location where the Vietnam War ended on 30 April 1975 with a North Vietnamese tank crashing down the gates of the palace, it has to be seen in person to have a feel of how it must have been like during the last days of the Vietnam War.

Many of the numerous function rooms in the building seem to have been kept in good condition, as if it was still frozen in time in 1975. The balcony and the rooftops are a good places for photos and to catch a wide view of the boulevards leading to the Notre Dame Cathedral & Saigon Post Office. It is a huge building so one would need about an hour or two to see it all.

There is a souvenir shop at the middle of the rooftop, as well as another one at the basement if one wants to purchase some souvenir items home. It may get a little crowded during the weekends as sometimes the palace grounds are a popular place for students to take their graduation photos.

Current admission price as of July 2024 is 65k VND for 1 adult ticket.

Decent shopping. This option is slightly less hectic than the near by Ben Thánh markets. Also a lot cooler. Well worth a visit and some good bargains to be picked up.

The elegant Saigon Opera House, also known as The Municipal Theatre of Ho Chi Minh City, is an eye-candy for architecture lovers, especially fans of the French colonial style.

Very busy walking street, especially at night. Ignore seller if you don't want to buy anything, ignore them even if you want to buy anything. Just go online and buy it. Good place to walk and enjoy the restaurant and cafe along the way or just to kill time at night. Sometimes there is event there so it can be extra crowded and noisy.

The heart of the city. Beautiful square with the City Hall as a backdrop, a beautiful building from French colonial times.
The square is a place for walks and meetings for countless people (tourists and Vietnamese)
Here are the stores of big luxury brands
At night it is particularly interesting with the lighting and is closed to traffic

Notre-Dame Cathedral, also known as Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of The Immaculate Conception is located in central Ho Chi Minh City and was constructed in the late 1800s. The church was established by the French rulers at the time. When we visited the building was undergoing renovations, so it was difficult to have a good look around.

Normally I don’t like traditional spectacles like dances or puppets, but I must admit that this one has been funny and pleasant, do not miss it during your stay in Saigon. Just a note, the sits are quite uncomfortable for tall or sturdy people.

We, family of 2 adults and an eight year old, spent a day here and had a fun time. We only went into the theme park and didn’t go to the waterpark or the zoo. We paid for the basic entry plus unlimited ‘train’ travel and already knew from reviews that we’d pay extra for each individual attraction. We didn’t tally our costs for the day because, compared to an Australian place like Luna Park, it’s going to be relatively affordable. Our favourite attraction was the Crocodile Farm where we paid 5000 to feed crocodiles meat on a fishing line. We also enjoyed the fish foot massage, the dodgem cars and a little ‘plane’ type ride. The ghost house and Harry Potter castle were too dark for my daughter, and the Snow Castle was one big accident waiting to happen 😀. The train rides were fun. We ate simple food at the food court and thought it was fine and affordable. We lowered our expectations before we went but all had an enjoyable day out and I’d recommend it. Staff were polite, lines were non-existent. As per other reviews, it was very quiet, however this was one thing we enjoyed. Most/all attractions were covered by shade and so it made for a cooler day out.
