What travelers are saying
- 732superhikeToulon, France6 contributionsWe spend couple of hours in this museum. It's a must to go if you like history.
Its a self-guided tour. We got to learn about the past, the war, anti-war movement and the horrible chemical weapon which still have huge impact on the locals till today.Written September 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. If you want to learn about Vietnam’s history this museum is a very good starting point.
Pay special attention to the Champa and Buddhist statues.Written June 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Understand why there is no air conditioning, but was very uncomfortable. Daughter could not stay inside.Written April 8, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. So I had high expectations for this museum in Ho Chi Minh City, but I was quite underwhelmed with this one.
Part of the reason is that it appears to be under renovation, and only part of the first floor is open to the public.
And that probably reflects the ticket price – – free.
If you get a chance to tour the Women’s Museum in Hanoi, don’t pass it up!Written November 6, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was exciting. Numbered chairs, live music, decorative walls, costumes around... I was alone in the hall and could not stop myself pretending as if I am the fashion model!Written August 11, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - D0rHaHong Kong, China111 contributionsThe museum is in a surprisingly nice garden and the whole exhibition is surprisingly good. Lot of info about the 19th and 20th century's France-Vietnam relations, colonial prisons, old photos of Saigon and Vietnamese countryside, etc.
The museum has a very good restaurant, with Minestrone, beef Wellington and croque Madame on the menu. I don't know if they really have all these food but the passion fruit juice and the orange-carrott juice were very good.
Small but important detail, especially for women: the restaurant's toilet is very good, much better than the museum's - has toilet paper, soap, water. If you need to use the restroom, go to the restaurant.
Restaurant has AC and good WiFi.Written December 30, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Waiting dutifully until 13h30, walking around the outside of the museum, admiring the captured hardware and war machines and the amazing brass plaques and panels showing the liberation of the city.
At 13h30 I wait for the opening - nothing. Turns out from the nice guy in the near but trinket kiosk that the museum is "closed until further notice".
I would suggest a walk around the outside to see the "liberation architecture" and war machines on your way to the National Museum or Zoo - just around the corner.
I think the city make more money running the place as a wedding venue, as there are two halls at the back that were doing brisk trade - may be the SAM 7 misile looks good in wedding photos?Written September 20, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
