It was a great experience being welcomed into Vi's home. It was like you were part of the family; being able to see how they eat and live in Vietnam, unlike a class you would have at a store. We didnt have a full group and she invited friends and neighbors to join the fun. The communication was thorough to get us there, accomodating diet, travel, etc. Once we arrived, her family was very welcoming.
We made delicious dishes that are repeatable at home. We made a refreshing prawn cracker mango salad, vietmanese coffee, a passionfruit mint spritzer, corn and pork rice paper spring rolls, a quick mixed noodle dish, beef pho, and topped off with a banana taro coconut cream dessert. I left absolutely stuffed. After the meal, we toured their rooftop garden with a good view and it was interesting to see and smell all these fresh herbs. She left me with a nice sample gift of spices to replicate the dishes at home. I will definitely be adding these flavor profiles and dishes to my weekly repitoire and hope to come back to learn more from Vi in the future.
