After our overnight train journey from Hue to Hanoi we had booked this place for one night’s stay until we moved on to Ha Long bay the following day. We arrived at the specified check in time and were quickly greeted and shown to our room. We had booked the large guest house for up to 20 travellers to find that we had the whole room to ourselves 👍🏼 very clean and traditional looking with comfy beds and fans around the room. The pool area was clean and in good condition with the naturalistic surroundings adding that feeling of seclusion. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would have given 5* if they hadn’t assumed us English guests wanted fried egg on toast for breakfast while other Asian guests got some great looking Pho! (We thought we were going to be given the same) Other than that I would book here again and try to book into one of the cool looking tree houses!

I meant to leave a review sooner, but I wanted to sit down and take the time to write a proper, thorough review. We really appreciated the tour that the team put on for us in Hanoi. It was great to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, and actually see some more of the rural and village-style areas, rather than being in tourist hotspots.

The guides were all extremely knowledgeble with excellent English, and I feel as though we got a real exclusive insight into the more common living style of locals. I don't want to give away too many secrets of the tour, but I was certainly not bored in any way. It was all very fascinating.

I want to add that - we had a 2-year old child - while I was initially concerned about the safety and security, I felt entirely comfortable with the guides. The drivers of the Jeeps were careful, and I felt safe the whole time. You don't go on any fast or dangerous highways either to get to the village, which was a bonus - especially if you're a safety-dad like me!

Oh and - I didn't realise, but we had a HUGE lunch that was provided and catered for at the end. It was some of the most delicious food we'd had as well. Thank you team!

Feedback from a former Game Master

I worked at Miss Terry around May 2021, and it's still one of the best experiences for me as a Game Master, and as an employee in general. Though the time was short, the memories still linger and are treasured within my heart. It was one of those times I ever felt cared for, and that I was learning something amazing.

Wish you guys all the best. Hope that we will see each other one day soon.

My partner and I went today, admittedly we only picked this venue as the other higher rated one wasn't accepting foreigners due to the corona virus, however, we actually really enjoyed the room. We didn't pre-book before we came but they were still able to accommodate us and the room we wanted. We were able to put our belongings in a locker and the price was 240,000 each for the 2 of us. Pretty reasonable price compared to some we've done previously. We did the casino/red dragon pub room. It was rated 4/5 difficulty and we chose 'easy' which gave us 3 clues.
The puzzles were nice and varied and it was all pretty clever. At times the staff were a bit slow getting to us when we needed a clue which did waste a bit of time, you ask for help by making an X with your arms towards the camera, not the most time efficient way but he did come and help us.
We did get stuck for a while in the last room because the automatic door shut behind us which meant we couldn't access things we needed from other rooms.. it took a bit of time to get his attention to come and rescue us but he was generous and gave us an extra 15mins to make up for it.
The final puzzle absolutely made zero sense for this room so we needed help with it, even with the explanation we still don't think anyone would work it out.
It was a fun way to spend the morning. It's definitely not the best production we've ever done but it's pretty good. We would happily go back and attempt the other rooms if we had the time.

Initially booked for 2 people, but my friend was unwell. So I went on the tour alone, just as a lightening and thunderstorm started and I got absolutely soaked.

My very friendly and professional Lady Guide Anne gave me some guidance about how to mount the bike, stay safe and provided me with a rain poncho.

So the City Tour does not necessarily focus on the obvious tourist attractions, but more the unseen and, for me, the more authentic and raw sights of the city - exactly what I was after. Anne was more than happy to stop, where possible, for me to grab snaps as I wished and was a great photographer.

I felt very safe with her riding through horrendous traffic, which was brilliant fun in itself.

Lots and lots of information provided by Anne throughout and access to the real Hanoi sights, sound, smells - and food, lunch provided. OMG! You've got to try the Egg Coffee and the Salted Coffee too..nom, nom, nom 😘

4 hours flew by and we covered so much Long Bien Bridge, Train Street, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Parliament House, B52 Museum and the Banana Fields etc with lots of time for belly laughs and fun too.

I felt I had been on a trip with a good friend, rather than a guide and loved every second of it - getting soaking wet was a bonus.

At the end of the tour I was offered the opportunity to go on the Evening 'Foodie Tour' of Hanoi. Do it, do it ... it's an amazing experience!👊

In the evening it was a mixed group of 3 Japanese guys, who didn't speak a word of English, Vietnamese and I think they struggled to speak Japanese too - plus 4 new guides. My Lady Guide was the utterly delightful Mai, we met Anne later.

The food was incredible, so varied and delicious and the quantities were enormous - you will not go hungry or thirsty. The dessert, may favourite dessert EVER was the creme caramel, on mango slices, smothered in condensed milk and coconut milk sauce. I thought I had gone to heaven.

By the end of the evening with the aid of food, drink, heat, the power of Google Translate, lots of arm waving and laughter we were all firm friends and Anglo/Japananese/Vietnamese relations had been firmly welded together.

Bring a sense of adventure, an appetite (make it large), an ability to laugh at yourself (you'll laugh an awful lot) and a camera - you'll need them all.

Highly recommend these trips, this company and lovely Anne and Mai to anyone thinking of visiting Hanoi. Your Lady Guided tour is a great and unique selling point and will be a brilliant success.

Thank you all for some wonderful memories!

Tonkin Travel organised our internal flights, hotels, private guide and drivers throughout our Indo China Private Tour to Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. Everything went to plan, their recommendations were excellent and their choice of guide and drivers/cars meant that we felt very safe on our travels. The guides local knowledge was superb. I would have no hesitation in recommending Tonkin Travel for your Indo China Tour arrangements
