We booked the food tour at absolutely reasonable price and were accompanied by Steve - our tour guide. He was really helpful and funny

We visited the Temple on our first day in Hanoi. Tickets are less than 5USD. As soon as you enter the walls on the Temple, the noise of the city immediately dies down. There is a man in one of the courtyards that can write scrolls with your selected saying/adjective in Vietnamese characters for VND100,000. They make great souvenirs!

This place really surprised me - not just the main museum, but around the back they had examples of the different types of traditional houses, etc., which was very interesting and fun. Highly recommend!

There are several floors (5 I think!) separated into themes which cover lots of topics from marriage, war-participation , traditions and future.

Everything is well presented and in many languages.

The displays are well designed and the story flows very well.

There is a short film (maybe 10 min) which was made just before covid changed the city - it talks about the sacrifices ladies from the villages make, to come to the city, to help provide for their families and send their children to school - they do such an amazing job and always with a smile but knowing their struggles reminds us all to be kind.

Take the time to explore this museum - it's well worth it!

I didn't rent the audio guide and felt the English explanations were sufficient for my understanfing about the dark history. It reminded me of how recent our "civilization" is and there is no lack of evidence of how evil human beings are.

Me and dad were at Serein Cafe sipping coffee and the train was departing from the station moving slowing along Long Bien Bridge, recommend people to go there around late afternoon to enjoy the sunset and the night view and to see the train departing or arriving at the station.

Yup...the Opera House is very like the Paris Opera House (just smaller!) for one second you simply believe that you're in Paris. It's a lovely structure which, fortunately, is spared all of the communist propaganda of festoon & written notices on its leading so you are able to benefit from the lines of the structure of the structure.

The cathedral looks quite different now to the earlier photos! It is undergoing some kind of work on the outside, so looks cleaner/painted.

Inside it was quite dark - few lights on. At 1630 it appeared close to closing. But still seems quite spectacular. Atmospheric.

The artwork was absolutely beautiful! The silk paintings and lacquer paintings were my favorite. Many Vietnamese girls taking selfies in the museum which I find quite interesting. Maybe they are doing the right thing about broadcasting the beauty of these ancient pieces to the world via social media... The artworks are updated quite recently as there are some modern pieces inspired by COVID.

If you want to go inside you will need to come early - check the hours on Google Maps.

I looked at the outside only. The building and the grounds outside are quite impressive in scale, all watched over by White-uniformed guards.

As you wilk see from all the picture, the Mausoleum is a very stark edifice. The wide open space and straight, clean edged structure contrast quite a lot with the rest of central Hanoi.

This pagoda is over 1500 years old! It is located on an island in the West Lake. Lots to see there and the views of the city are nice as well.

Built in 1990, "Ho Chi Minh Museum" is part of the "Ho Chi Minh Complex" around "Ba Dinh Square" in Hanoi's "Old Quarter". It praises the memory of Vietnam's first President and National Hero, Ho Chi Minh (*May 9, 1890 +September 2, 1969). Inside, eight chronological exhibitions cover different parts of his life and memorabilia. Before going, please check carefully its visiting hours and dress properly. Entry fees almost inexpensive. Combine your visit with other nearby attractions. Enjoy!

Spent a great morning here. Unsurprisingly much of the focus is upon the French and American conflicts. I can't imagine that there's collection anywhere else in the world of US helicopters, planes, and other military vehicles to rival the one that the museum has

Not quite as spectacular as the Citadel in Hue but definitely worth a visit. You are given a map at the ticket office with a suggested route, which is worth following, as you could otherwise miss so much. Very interesting to see the Command Headquarters and bunkers from the war, with good original exhibit. We spent a good couple of hours wandering around as there is quite a lot to see.
