- KeelyimpsLuton, UK87 contributionsVery interesting to walk around. I would recommend the ear phone information pack for a little extra cost, you get so much more interesting facts about the prison. Well worth a visit.Written February 17, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- RIchard035Northwood, UK1,348 contributionsThe Temple of Literature is a monument to Confucius and Vietnam's first university. It is a vast site situated in central Hanoi. There is a small charge that can only be paid by cash. The temple is a series of courtyards each with pavilions, halls and statues. There is plenty of information on the history of the university, how the exam system worked and the monarch's role in assessing student. There is a small cafe near to one of the courtyards.Written January 17, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mork001St Kilda East, Australia660 contributionsGot a taste of being corralled in single file to go to the mausoleum.
Don’t step out of line after being screened….😀 or bring any water…
Will have to be stored.
File passed in two single files and up and out you go.
Only open for a small window of opportunity so it will be crowded.
Has to be done while in Hanoi.Written February 9, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Anabelle BKapiti Coast, New Zealand66 contributionsThis was a private tour day trip for me, leaving from Hanoi. Duong Lam is a one & half hours from Hanoi.
Arrived round 9.00 am . As o hired a driver not a guide I took myself off to explore. There is an entry fee of 20 thousand Dong , you get a map.
How hard can this be!
I wandered round for a few hours discovering some interesting places and had a delicious custard apple smoothie.
In reality it would have been better to have a guided tour. I’m sure I missed highlights my map reading isn’t great.
There is a buggy takes people about the highlights of the village . Worth considering
I had lunch there as well not enjoyable either .

This attraction is one of the several attractions located in the vicinity. My guide pointed it to me and learned that it is not open to the public.
Since there are other open attractions to visit in the area such as the Museum, Pagoda, the wide open space, etc. we proceeded to visit them.Written April 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Had a Grab taxi drop me off (and later pick me up) at a Pho restaurant on the main street (83 Đ. Hoàng Hoa Thám, Ngọc Hồ, Ba Đình, Hà Nội, Vietnam) then walked down a short lane to reach the wreckage in the lake.
Visited on a quiet Monday morning around 8am as the city was just waking up. Grabbed an egg and cheese crepe from a vendor outside the hospital (next to the lake). Spent about an hour walking around the lake, taking photos, watching locals gather their groceries from the morning market by the lake. This was one of the more emotionally stirring spots on my trip to Vietnam...Written December 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Peaceful pond area but only need a few minutes to climb the steps and walk past the actual home. The museum closes mid-day so make sure to time your entrance. Upon entering the complex, including the museum, proper attire is needed.Written August 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
