- TravelerBelgiumHeverlee, Belgium58 contributionsWe visited on New Year’s Day, and had a very positive inspiring experience.
At first we thought the gallery was closed, but Mr Wattana came out and opened the gallery space for us. He kindly took the time to show his work to us - he speaks excellent English too.
All in all, a beautiful place with interesting and diverse art and a friendly host. It’s a pity not many visitors seem to find their way to this oasis!

His artwork is amazing and he was so kind! His studio is thoughtfully curated and very welcoming. We’ve already shared his work with friends and plan to come back the next time we are in Chiang Mai! Can’t wait to frame the art we purchased. Highly recommend.Written January 6, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Nevine DLondon, UK74 contributionsI visited this wonderful Burmese art gallery late December 2014. But it is never too late to give credit to its owner Mar Mar and her kind assistant ( a painter too).
I bought 2 beautiful paintings by a Burmese artist and my son acquired one from another painter.
We paid 2 visits to the gallery and the owner couldn't be more knowledgeable and proud of her wonderful Burmese collection.
The exhibits were ranging from 20th century impressionists to modern and contemporary Burmese artists. I had already been very impressed by Myanmar artists on a trip the previous year.
The gallery itself, over two floors is charming and inspiring. It is situated on a road that runs along the Ping river, between two bridges and therefore walking distance from Chiang Mai centre.
Upon returning home to my country, there was another painting that I had seen at the gallery, turning round and round in my head. I emailed Mar Mar and she had it shipped.
Her website deserves to be visited and so does the gallery if you go to Chiang Mai.Written April 5, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We purchased work from JOJO KOBE Art Gallery in 2015 -- two of which were screen prints from an artist named Kitikong. Fast forward to this current trip in 2022 and we happen to stumble into C.A.P. Studio based off of proximity to where we happened to be at the time. Immediately the experience is amazing -- a super nice guy takes us around the four-story building telling us all about the studio and its artists. On one of the floors, artists were actually in the middle of the creative process. We decided we are going to buy pieces from this place, so two of the folks working there start pulling out piece after piece of incredible artwork. We narrow it down to three pieces -- and ultimately choose work from an artist from Bangkok (Thanonchai Sornsriwichai) that had done a residency at C.A.P. Studio. They start to wrap up the piece are going to purchase and the owner of the studio comes down and starts chatting with us and shares the super cool story about the artist who created the piece we just purchased. We share our little art story from our last visit in Chiang Mai and the owner says...that's me, I am Kitikong. Y'ALL!!!! My husband and I both weep when we re-tell this story. It was such a wild and wonderful experience for us...I mean what are the odds? Both pieces are at the framers and we cannot wait to add these incredibly special pieces to our home.Written January 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Catherine34 contributionsWe met Lamorna Cheesman the fashion designer of studio Naenna by chance, as we were looking for silk in Chiang Mai. As a professional fashion designer, trained at a University in Australia she decided to put all her talent into this ecofriendly enterprise: supporting local Lanna women and their tradition from a-z and adapting it into the 21st century. Her modern fashion patterns are great! I bought her mother’s book on Lanna weaving methods that she shipped with my silk dress. I can’t wait to get home to wear it. She is a top woman entrepreneur. Do not miss her shop downtown or visit one of her workshops. This I’ll do if I am lucky to visit again.Written February 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Larissa JBrisbane, Australia12 contributionsVery interesting. My aunty took me here. It was very hot outside but it was a very good experience and okay inside. Dressing and trying on the costumes, looking at knick knacks whilst drinking many cups of tea. Apparently theres a story of one person sitting and enjoying company for more than a few hours! The owner and his wife are very kind, and he is a fantastic storyteller who aims to communicate as best he could (in English) the different types of tea. trying pu'er was pretty good. owner prefers one on one and small groups of quietly chatting than big crowds. great if you got a few hours to sit and enjoy company. stay for an hour, possibly recommend several, even more!Written September 5, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
