What travelers are saying
- NavantChiang Mai, Thailand4 contributionsIt's been really good going up there since they developed out the roads. No more bumpy dirt roads like previous reviews are mentioning. Still steep and narrow, but very easy on a motorbike to get through.
Very nice for a day trip of just relaxing or getting some work done at the coffee shops.Written May 26, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Its located at the Foot of Wat Pratat Doi Suthep. You will feel a relief of somewhat of comfort after making some joss stick offerings. You will definately feel better after praying to Kruba Srivichai.Written March 12, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Chimney and her driverChiang Mai, Thailand22 contributionsMe and my wife, we ride up there on early of February. The route to the top is very simple and can access by all type of vehicle, but just only dry season.
Route has half concrete (20%) and sand-dirt (80%), a bit narrow, not too steep.
There is no patrol station, once you turned left from main road, therefore make sure you have enough fuel.
The mountain top is flat land, developed by Agriculture department of Chiang Mai university, so the location is well maintenance, and oversee by government employees.
On the top, you will see the stunning southside of Doi Luang, and Chiang Dao city pretty easy. Surrounded by wild Himalayan cherry or sour cherry trees that will blossom on mid of Jan to Feb (luckily we were there at the right time)
There is toilet, bathroom, so location is good for camping, but you pay for maintenance fee (I'm not sure, about 100-150 THB)
Heading west from this location, has another campsite, run by local people, but worse landscape and not well organize.Written February 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There is traffic but we wanted to have walk and see the jungle around us. Short stop at Bhubing palace and narrow road led us to very nice 👍 scenery of jungle mountains 🏔 below us. 90 min hiking 🥾 is worth. On the way down you can take red truck or try on your own. Necessary good shoes 👟 , water 💦 and snackWritten January 28, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
