Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Jakub K1 contributionThis May, me and my girlfriend spent two weeks at Suan Lahu coffee farm, working as volunteers. Looking back, I have to say it was one of the hightlights of our big Thailand trip, providing us a perfect chill time to settle down for a while, and also letting us experience things we couldn't have experienced elsewhere. It's hard to explain how awesome it was for us Europians to see up-close, how some of our most valued imported goods are made in their homeland. Together with local people of the Lahu tribe, we took part in production of coffee, black tea, wild cinnamon and bamboo charcoal. We learned to harvest and cook a jackfruit, planted cute little coffee seedlings, painted a few walls, helped to establish a coffeeshop, rode motocycles to a nearby waterfall, even attended a ritual evening ceremony in the village. We were looked after by the farmers so well that it was really our pleasure to help them for a few hours a day, and the work felt very rewarding. Also the communication with the staff and the owners went very smoothly, and for a place in Thai jungle, the accomodation facilities were very fine and felt safe from the wildlife and insects (as long as you close your windows properly - just a bonus tip). I highly recommend this experience to long time travellers as a great place to find a home away from home, but also as a one or two days trip, if you're interested in how coffee is made in the most natural way (I would go for 2 days at least, as the place is really remote and it takes long to get here and appreciate all there is to appreciate). 10/10!Written August 14, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We could give the cute buffalo a shower and feed him, then we learned how rice is made.
Lung Serd and Nong Amp teached us a lot and we had great chats. They are very friendli and welcoming.
After that we had a delicious lunch containing the rice of the farm.
