Not as impressive as the Grand Palace but worth a visit in particular to see the reclining Buddha, it’s bigger than I though it would be.
Remember it’s a temple so dress appropriately.

    Beautiful temple at the river.
After years of re-construction works the temple is now available.
Take ferry to cross the river.Stay early in the morning with less tourists and better weather.
Later the sky becomes offen very cloudly.
At Sundown the view from the opposite side of the River is fantastic.

    A must do in Bangkok.

Originally planned for a morning 4-hr trip here but stayed all the way because there were so many things to see — especially love the artisan corner.

They have massage parlors everywhere so you can get a quick rest and continue shopping ;D

Great out of the way place to visit with a really neat history. You get to see most parts of the house and there is a lot of artwork that that original owner collected. Tour guide we had was excellent. Small cafe on site as well if you want a snack, and a small gift shop. I would say it is a must see if you are in Bangkok.

The small hill of this stupa with gardens and views makes it more interesting than other temples, and the history is also interesting. The sacred vultures are a bit grim but give you a perspective of Bangkok challenges during time of cholera

Beautiful Wat with a solid gold Buddha statue as it's sfar sight .  The buildings are beautiful and the Buddha is awe inspiring.  One of the highlights of the Chinatown area.

Can combine it with a walk through the streets of Chinatown

The river itself is very windy and pretty. You can take a river taxi to see the temples. I highly recommend taking a dinner cruise so you can explore the river at night. Everything is very pretty all lit up. The river stays pretty busy with multiple taxis and Ferries all day.

Grand palace is a sight you must see whilst in Bangkok, it’s spread over a large site with loads of interesting buildings.
As with other temples long trousers or skirts must be worn along with shoulders covered, leggings are not allowed but strangely skinny jeans are. My daughter had incorrect attire but with negotiation for less than £5 purchased trousers and a nice white blouse from a nearby shop.

I quite appreciated taking a walk around the park in the late afternoon. Picturesque, and some interesting wildlife.

It seems pretty active and lots going on. ALL those out walking or jogging for exercise are moving in the same direction. Unsure if this is a written or unwritten rule? Interesting behaviour! There was an interesting class going on when I finished - Zumbw outside or some such.

I'be been here before COVID and the experience was very different. COVID took is toll in Bangkok. Only about 25% of the stalls are occupied it is really sad to see a once buzzing area changed to a tranquil and quite place.

Bring said the above it is still worthwhile visiting. Eating here is memorable. I ate the best Thai cuisine dish at KUE Sa Wa Dee out of all the previous 15+ trips to Bangkok and the islands.

Big wheel is still operational as well as the spooky: Mystery Mansion. Still a big photo opportunity market

We took the BTS skytrain from Saphan Taksin to Sala Daeng in the direction of National Stadium (bought single tickets at the counter in the station) . We walked the rest of the way, passing through Patpong Market which was just an empty-ish street at 10am, so no shocks for our children.

Adult tickets were 200 THB and students (19 and 17 years) 100 THB and our 12 year old 50 THB. The entrance was very easy to find.

You pass a cafe which we didn’t use but feel we could have, and a drinks shop with cans of recognisable brands for 50 THB.

There is an outdoor area with snakes in habitats and just enough information. This is also where snake handling takes place in the afternoon (about 2pm).

Directly behind this area is a modern building with more (even better) snake displays. Read the key as you go in so you know what the symbols mean on the cages. This is also where the 11am snake venom extraction takes place - there is a small auditorium and an enclosed room where 3 snakes were milked the day we visited.

Oh take masks as everyone was wearing them in this building.

Our teens loved this - it was definitely worth going out of our way for.

We continued on to the Flower Market via the Blue Line metro from Sam Yan to Sanam Chai.
