- Bklyn_family_funBklyn, NY20 contributionsAugust is extremely hot. Now that that's out of the way. This was a great tour except I would have liked to stay at the beach longer. The Sanctuary of Truth was pretty cool, but I wish we spent 30-45mins less here to enjoy the beach longer. If you don't have the appropriate clothing, you can leave a deposit which you get back after you return the items. We then headed to the speed boat which took 20 mins to Koh Larn. Once we got to the beach, we were hungry and had to venture to find food. (which took away from our beach time), but food was delicious and you get to use the bathrooms without a fee. The beach is beautiful, but be aware you're swimming with all the engine fumes from speed boats and jet skis. If we had an additional 30-60 mins, that would have been great for us. we had 9 in our small group. Three of them were happy with the amount of time on the beach, while the rest of us could have stayed just a bit longer. If you set your expectations, then you'll be fine. Nok was our tour guide, she is very friendly and accommodating. We are a family of 4 with a 2 year old kid. Even though it was a group tour , the other party cancelled at the last minute and we got a private experience for the day, including a 11 seater vehicle all to ourselves.
Nok took care of all the tickets, admissions and even our backpacks when we went for swimming. She is lovely and caring to her customers . Very punctual pick-up from our hotel in a comfortable, air-conditioned van driven by safe driver, with useful and interesting information provided throughout our journey (but also plenty of time for just watching landscape or napping 😉). Interesting visit to turtle conservation centre and time for a coffee and chat by the beach.
The snorkeling part of the day was well organised, with snorkels provided (and life jacket for boat), 50TBH each to rent flippers (not necessary but we enjoyed having them). Boat had sun shelter which was good as we did get some sun throughout the day despite sun cream (more tan than burn). Good opportunity to see tropical fish in 3 different places and get amazing photos taken underwater - definitely a memory for life!
After snorkeling, we went to a quiet, local restaurant by the water where our guide ordered some amazing dishes that we all enjoyed - Tom Yum soup with prawns, fried fish, chicken with cashews and vegetables and fried pork, rice. We were so full we skipped dinner that evening!
If you think you’ll get hungry during the day, bring some breakfast bars or dry crackers. Water was provided but we also brought our own.
Then a comfortable drive home - some of us were definitely snoozing after a BIG day!
Not cheap but highly recommend.
