Fitting and special memorial to the approximately 1 million victims of the 1994 genocide. There's a donation requested on entry, and it's $15 each for an audioguide, slightly on the pricey side given the short length of the recordings, but worth it for several of the exhibits. Most of the information placards are in Kinyarwanda, French and English. Take time to read them and grasp the timeline of what happened.

Ushers were very good about telling us which rooms should be avoided by small children as there are some very graphic photos of victims in a few areas, so take heed of the advice you receive as the images could easily give kids nightmares. It's necessary for adults to see it though.

A very good job overall to inter, respect, and remember the victims. You can visit and walk along the burial areas, but be sure to be respectful as it's common for survivors and families of the victims to come here and quietly reflect and pray in the background.

The Inema Art Centre is impressive with a vast array of artworks. The quality shows in the cost of the artworks which have a calming effect on visitors. Timothy and his brothers definitely have a great thing going at Inema.

Definitely a must see when visiting Kigali! The artwork is truly incredible! Not only is it locally crafted, but there are rooms of artwork that was created at Niyo in the studio. Pacifico works with local artists to create masterpieces and to teach others how to refine their skills. He works with all ages and the art work is incredible throughout. But that is not the best part! 40% of profits go to local orphan children to help with their needs! This art gallery is hands down the best and most rewarding place to visit, browse, and buy (or donate)! You may even get to meet the artist of the artwork you love like we did! We will visit every chance we get when visiting Kigali!

My wife and I were aware of Rwanda's recent past. Being from a country (Sri Lanka) with a similar past, we expected a sad and negative story to come out of this museum. But is was the exact opposite! The museum tells a story that illustrates success in preventing genocide and prompts one to reflect on the true value of humanity going beyond all differences. Isaac the manager and his team are doing an excellent job in maintaining and presenting the museum to the public.

We had an hour's guide which was very interesting and informative on the early history of Rwanda. The only downside is the reptile exhibit - which is not really anything to do with the museum but needs a mention as the conditions that the snakes are being held in are terrible. No need to have it there - please re-house the snakes to a zoo or somewhere else - it adds nothing to the museum and in fact detracts from the excellent tour.

We visited the Rwanda Art Museum this morning and so enjoyed our visit. We had a lovely guide who walked us through the previous President's home. While it's 40 years old, it was still very pleasant and interesting to see.

We especially wanted to see the current exhibition by women artists in Rwanda. Some really brilliant artists, and it was also fun to see the permanent exhibit.

The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. There are several old water fountains and the swimming pool which are all empty now, but still beautifully built.

And, we visited the site of the plane crash where both the Rwandan and Burundian presidents were killed.

MamaRwanda is the #1 BEST PLACE I have ever stayed -- and I have been in 79 nations, so I have stayed in everything from the top resort hotels to many other interesting lodgings on every continent. I say this is #1 simply because the founder and the staff made me feel like family and I never wanted to leave the awesome hospitality! Their mission is to help the women and children in the community which means that your stay contributes to this too. The accommodations are clean, the food is tasty, but the people are simply the best! Hopefully, you will get to have an outfit made at the ladies' sewing shop affiliated or visit with the kids after school program he directs. Simply the best place to stay in the world!

Got my nose piercing here and it was a breeze. The gentleman who attended to me was kind, reassuring and supportive afterwards. Definitely going back for my next piercing! :D

I've been to Tongo twice - and i LOVE it! The space is full of character and charm - and the work is BEAUTIFUL! Joe is an incredibly talented painter and Sarah's jewelry is extremely unique and cool.

Every visitor to Kigali should stop by Tongo to check it out - and make a purchase! Such beautiful work!
