Plage de l'Ermitage Saint-Gilles-Les-Bains
Coming from St Gilles les Bains where the beach is very small or covered with coral and the waters are much more aggressive (more for surfers), this was a welcome respite!
A reef out to sea, upon which we could see people surfing, afforded us protection from prowling sharks, making it safe for swimming.
Plage de La Saline les Bains La Saline les Bains
Also opportunities to hire kayaks and paddleboards to explore the lagoon a bit further along the lagoon.
Great for snorkelling and the beach runs for miles so you can take lovely walks along it.
Plage de Trou d'Eau La Saline les Bains
The beaches south from St Gilles have coral protection against sharks and is safe.

Plage de Boucan Canot Saint-Gilles-Les-Bains
I found it to be the most beautiful beach on the entire island!! Perfect spot for picnicking or catching a tan.. Great tidal pool as well.
In fact Boucan Canot is composed from 3 beaches, but only one is protectet against sharks and has restos and bars, the other two offers more tranquility (not in the weekends) and shadow and good places for hammoks.
