Port DE peche is a very interesting place. It is a working fishing port and one of the biggest in West Africa. Try and get there for late afternoon to watch the fishing boats come in and land their fish. It is a hectic experience as there are so many boats. It is dirty, smelly, noisy, colourful, fast moving place.
Make sure you visit for a real African experience . Expect to see no foreigners or tourists.

lovely time spent in these dunes. Respectfully, you can traverse them and find some amazing views. To be amongst them is stunning. Just remember to bring sun screen and water

Check their website for events, quite a lot happening here, including music, theatre and exhibitions. Also a little café with simple meals, sandwiches and good coffee. A good spot

If you want a khaima (traditional tent of the area) this is the place to go. The many market stalls make it a challenge to choose. I learned a valuable lesson while buying a carpet at the Egyptian Market in Istanbul. Before you go know the size, basic pattern and colors you want and stick to it otherwise you will spend hours (which isn't bad if you have the time) I went in and just started. I don't know the local language or French but that wasn't a problem because I knew what I wanted. After an hour or a bit more and several cups of tea we realized the khaimas all started looking the same. We went back to our original plan and quickly choose the one we wanted. Happy with our choice and price. We knew a head what we should pay. We left with what we came for, greatly enjoyed the experience, and if family or friends ever come to visit we will take them here. Well worth the experience.

I wasn't dressed correctly to go in but found the area very interesting and worth a visit. I got some great photos of the Mosque and of the area but had to be discrete. I walked alone and wasn't bothered by anyone. I can recommend a visit.

If a trip to a country not only leaves wonderful memories of deserts, mountains, sea, oases, culture, exotic food and friendly people, but also the feeling of having to do this trip again, then everyone can imagine how satisfied that person was got to. When you get more than you expect, that's always great. If you expect a lot and these expectations are topped again, then you are rightly enthusiastic. These sons of the desert are extremely friendly and open-minded people and if you are lucky enough to get a tour guide like Hademine Ahmedou from Tour4Mauretania, who is also the owner of this company, then it is perfect, your trip to a country like a fairy tale from 1001 Night.
    Thank you Hademine Ahmedou

We worked with Desert Mauritanie, who came well recommended, for a 3-week expedition to remote areas of Mauritania. We had quite a specific plan for this expedition for which Idoumou and his team were a brilliant support during both preparations and throughout the trip itself. Idoumou is a pleasure to work with, always fast and happy to reply to any queries and has extensive local knowledge. His team were also very professional and hard working providing great services is very remote conditions. I would certainly recommend and work with Desert Mauritanie again.
