What travelers are saying
- Pheroze J2 contributionsI recommend you visit the market with a guide because it is a very dynamic and busy place. I connected with Yared through Trip Advisor. We had a lengthy layover in Addis and I wanted to see the city. He picked up two of us in their car. I believe his driver, and childhood friend, is Isaias. They are both extremely nice. Yared's love for his country and people gushes out of him. We had to significantly modify our tour plans due to a health issue, and the market was too challenging for us. I feel that Yared made a difference for us when he adapted to the challenges we had. I am very glad we did this tour and thank Yared for his time and efforts.Written March 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MovaripPiravom, India1,578 contributionsNational Museum of Ethiopia is not big as expected and not maintained as being the national museum. But it is a treasure and a must see attraction when in Addis Ababa.Written April 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Leann LAtlanta, GA40 contributionsWe spent an entire day here. We hiked, did the zipline, toured the art museum, saw the views, and had lunch at fresh corner. There is even more to do that we didn’t have time for. Such a fun day and great views of the cityWritten February 23, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Meklit BekeleEthiopia538 contributionsMy heart dropped looking at the photos , reading the stories and what happened back then, how many lives have been sacrificed for this generation to have the freedom we practice right now. I am so thankful & grateful, for all people who fought for us!!Written May 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mstrixie007Nairobi, Kenya135 contributionsI felt it was rather overpriced maybe overrated but it's a beautiful man-made park centred around the rich history of Ethiopia during the reigns of Menelik and Haile Selassie. I wasn't necessarily impressed with the safari walk that showcased the few animals and birdlife, but again I'm biased since I come from another African country where I've seen lots of wildlife. It is a good to visit place for some great photos, so take your time to pose for those shots!Written May 24, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ana S1 contributionI have been here with my family the church is under restoration. But the architecture of the exterior is nice. The guide which I don't remember his name was knowledgeable.Written September 24, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Reza SattarzadehMuscat, Oman2,539 contributionsEthological Museum is located in the University of Addis Ababa and is home to displays related to the contemporary history of the country, specially the period of Haile Silase. The place used to be the residence of the king and certain areas have been kept in the same state in which they were used by him and his family.
It costs 200 Birr to enter.Written December 2, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Brittany_11_10Los Angeles, CA1,856 contributionsPros:
- Nature escape near a big city
- Beautiful eucalyptus forest
- Very family friendly with lots of activities (e.g., playground, trampoline park)
- A few different restaurants with friendly staff and fair prices
- Birds and trees and flowers and the beautiful outdoors
Cons:
- There seem to be no trails through the forest (at least not that we ever found), only walking on the road; no vehicles (except for shuttles) are allowed in, so road-walking was okay, but through the forest would have been much nicer
- The cameramen are very disrespectful and will try to take--or even actually take--your photo even if you say "no" numerous timesWritten December 9, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Mstrixie007Nairobi, Kenya135 contributionsGood source market for Ethiopian traditional dresses, at friendly prices, but not necessarily at the best quality. Being an open-air and informal setting, it is best if one is accompanied by a local for bargains.Written May 24, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Cassandra TeschBerkeley, CA151 contributionsThis is a great place to come for
Spices, baskets and other local products in an environment not as overwhelming as Merkato. I bought local baskets and black seeds. This is a great place to get coffee accessories to go with your jebena.Written January 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A local young man told us a lot about what was going on at the Cathedral and we observed the deep devotion of those who came to worship. A wedding had just taken place at the Cathedral and some of the celebrants were happy to interact with us and share their joy.Written March 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
