What travelers are saying
- David DTralee, Ireland2 contributionsIt was the trip of a lifetime with Mar Tours & Safaris. Truly a quintessential African experience.
It was a blessing that our highly respected group leader, after extensive research, wisely selected Mar Tours & Safaris for our 12-day trip, which turned into a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the African Safari, leaving little to regret.
Our experience was wonderful. The car was in great shape and all the hotels and food prepared for the tour were perfect. Our expectations have been consistently exceeded.
The 12 days trip was well designed, comprehensively covering the Big Five. Wildlife was frequently within close proximity, needless to say, wildebeest crossing Mara river. Although that was partially attributed to luck, the excellent service, dedication, and willingness to go the extra mile attitude of Mar Tours team and its flexible schedule, was critical for game drive.
Tarangire was a great start - we saw lots of elephants, giraffes, wildebeest, zebra, and even some lions. We stayed at Simba Lodge, which has a watering hole nearby that had visits from elephants and zebras. Simba Lodge was great - nice bar area, cool huts, a pool, and good food.
On the second day we drove through Ngorongoro crater and on to the serengeti. Ngorongoro is really good for seeing everything! We saw lions, rhino, buffalo, hippo, warthog, and lots of other animals. We even saw a group of lions briefly attempt a hunt. In central Serengeti we stayed at thorn tree camp. This is a nice tented lodge and felt very natural. We even had to scare off hyena when we went to bed one night! The staff at all the lodges were so nice and friendly! And the food was also good again.
We had 4 days in serengeti and saw everything! Its an amazing place with diverse landscapes and feels truly wild. There were lots of lions, including cubs and huge males right next to our jeep. We saw cheetah, rhino, giraffe, secretary bird, ostrich, bat eared fox, buffalo, eland, hyena, baboon, monkey, and many more animals. The highlight was a mother and baby leopard playing on a fallen tree. Unbelievable experience and all thanks to Amedee's expert knowledge and spotting skills!
We were so fortunate to have Amedee as our guide. He took every opportunity to share his abundant knowledge about the animals, plants, environment and local community life. He had a talent for finding the best angles, allowing for up-close and personal experiences with the animals. He is a skilled and safe driver, in addition to being patient, approachable, and caring always stopping anytime we asked to take photos. As we changed hotels daily, he always arranged heavy luggage neatly and started with clean vehicles.
We wish we could have guide like him for our future travels.
The review could be much longer, but with limited space, we would like to say that we can validate and relate to the good reviews of others in trip adviser for Mar Tours & Safaris.Written May 24, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Laura CGlasgow, UK130 contributionsWe had a lovely time here watching hippos basking in the mud and sun. An ideal viewing point to appreciate at close range the life of a wild hippo. They were entertaining to watch and loads of them. Hard to believe they are one of the most dangerous wild animals when they look so peaceful in the water.Written March 28, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Martin ADar es Salaam, Tanzania8 contributionsI was in serengeti in the last year, all were good, this river was so amazing and attractive. We spotted the the migration and all were goodWritten February 26, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Michelle112013Indianapolis, IN567 contributionsThis is a definite must do if you are able to see it. You may have to be patient, but it is worth the wait.Written January 29, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Baby-BabbleUK908 contributionsOn leaving the Serengeti I was told to look out towards the horizon.. and what did I see.? long thick black lines and more thick black lines... so of course my question was.. what was I looking at?
The migration!! I was told .. Look... all those black lines in the distance are wildebeest. Wow!! I was bowled over as I never ever expected to see this with my own 2 eyes, which immediately filled with happy tears . There must have been thousands upon thousands of wildebeest all following each other ... and when we got closer, many of them running across our path , some resting by the side of the road, (zebras also I might add...but nowhere near as many as the wildebeests )
Spectacular.. and I am blessed to have witnessed at least some of the migration - albeit not the actual crossing the water.
I am happy!Written May 6, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Fatema TDar es Salaam, Tanzania55 contributionsYou can see the endless plains of Serengeti from here as the rest of the national park is very flat. It is only a short climb but only do it if you are fit. We saw a snake on our way down!Written July 19, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

Starting with welcome coffee, flying over Tanzania for an hour, and ending with full breakfast, just WOW

Earllllly morning pick up to enjoy the sunrise. Significant safety briefings and precautions. An hour trip with some low flights over animals. - Sabrina1 contributionWe had the best time going on Safari with Tanzania Safari Supremacy. We went with my mom, husband, and two daughters 4 and 9. Everything was excellent. Elvice helped me put a personalized itinerary together and was quick to answer all the questions I had before our trip.
Everything went just as planned and was very professional, the transportation on time, the lodges were beautiful, and the food great.
Our guide Gilly was the best! He was very experienced and had an excellent knowledge of flora and fauna. We’re going to miss him for sure!
We went to Manyara national park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Serengeti, and Lake Eyasi to meet two different tribes.
We got to see so many different animals. We saw the Big 5 and everything else. Hundreds of elephants, thousands of zebras, lions, cheetah’s, austriches, giraffe’s, hippos, and soooo much more.
Our favourite lodge was Manyara’s Secrets at lake Manyara. It was a dream. All the other lodges where beautiful too.
After the Safari we spend about a week in Zanzibar. The island is beautiful and we had a lot of fun.
We’re so excited that we did this trip and very thankful for Safari Suprenamcy for making it such an easy, wonderful, and memorable experience.
Thank you, Elvice, Alex, Abraham, and Gilly!Written May 5, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Sandra WDe Pere, WI5 contributionsI thought it would be very windy but it wasn't at all, there was hardly any wind. The pilot from Turkey was great, he'd make it look like we would run into a tree and then a couple squirts of the file/hot air and the balloon would gently glide Just over the tree....what precision!Written February 28, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Mark MBerlin, Germany99 contributionsFlying a balloon over serengeti is an once in a lifetime experience! I have done lots of cool stuff, but this was among the top 3 things, worth every single penny we spent on it. Thank you so much to the team and especially Raphael for being so professional and nice to us!Written March 6, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- MandM6363Toronto, Canada23 contributionsOur family of 6 had the most amazing safari experience! We visited a number of reserves/parks and spent 3 days in the Serengeti.
Best things about Eyes on Africa:
- communication with the company and the guide
- our guide Isaak was super knowledgeable, very pleasant and a very safe driver
- the safari truck was always clean, stocked with water, very comfortable
- each day was filled with wonderful discoveries and we never felt rushed
- food at the resorts was amazing
The only thing I would say is that our last day was unplanned but Isaak suggested a coffee plantation nearby (Gibb Farm) which was very interesting and worth the visit.
I would highly recommend Eyes on Africa in terms of itinerary, efficiency, choice of resorts, activities, overall cost, our driver Isaak and of course the sheer beauty of Tanzania.Written July 23, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Julia SaumeBarcelona, Spain2 contributionsWe went to Manyara, Ngorongoro, and Tarangire on a 3 day safari and it was truly amazing!! Our guide Abdallah Pangani was very knowledgeable about the animals and different features of the national parks, super kind, and always making sure we were OK and our needs were met. We were well taken care of the whole time, right up to the drop-off at the airport, highly recommend. Asante Sana!Written January 9, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- HB-UAECanton of Schaffhausen, Switzerland102 contributionsSerengeti is phenomenal for the distant views, the amazing experience of searching for animals and finding them and we were extremely lucky and spoilt there.
Ngorongoro Crater is a different World. It is truly a remarkable experience. We saw 8 Rhino!
I would however only spend 1 day in Ngorongoro Crater and minimum 2 nights in the Serengeti.Written March 21, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
