What travelers are saying
- Patricia BrennanOrte, Italy193 contributionsThis is a small museum containing a private collection of modern art - about 100 works dating back through the past century. It is interesting. The gardens at the back of the museum are really lovely, especially the fascinating "jardin sec". Well worth the visit. A taxi from Marrakech centre will cost about 100 dh each way and it is wise to have the driver to wait for you because it will not be easy to pick up a taxi here.Written March 2, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mike2 contributionsI couldn't recommend Galerie Dawiya strongly enough. The gallery was managed by a wonderful gentleman (Kamal), who works closely with nearly two dozen local artists to compile a beautiful, one-of-its-kind collection of locally produced art. I bought two pieces that I absolutely love at very fair prices for such high quality art.

This Dar is situated next to the Koutoubia Mosque, opposite the Jemma el Fna. It was originally built as the home of Prince Moulay Ali, in the 19th century. It was then purchased by the French government in 1958 and used as the premises of the Consulate until 2007.
It is now used as an exhibition space for contemporary art and photography. Look on line for the latest exhibitions.
It is certainly worth taking a look if you are visiting the Koutoubia gardens.
The tea room set in the garden is a perfect place to rest for a while.Written November 16, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - goldlambAmsterdam, The Netherlands21 contributionsExperience:
Very impressive. This is a gallery where the artwork is for sale; it is one space, it is not a museum, it's free and just behind the carre eden shopping centre down the road. The art was excellent modern art and the exhibition was curated professionally; information on the artist and the series was displayed in French and English on the wall; prices were printed on a price list.
Service:
The lady who worked here was friendly and helpful; spoke English and French; had extensive knowledge on the artist, art, previous and upcoming exhibitions and was not pushing a sale. Happy for us to ask questions, take pictures and discuss art. She kindly played us a video of the artist at work. A refreshing experience.
Value:

- Sheila jPevensey, UK17 contributionsThere are some lovely oil paintings here in this gallery at competitive prices.I visit this gallery whenever I'm in Marrakech. The gallery is set within a traditional traders' hostel. This site has not been modernised so this adds greatly to its charm, the original historical Marrakech.Written March 14, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Our guide was great, but the places for rugs, lights etc were very pricey. We shopped around more for rugs, and the 2nd place was less than half the price, and this store was even less. The rugs appear to be of the same quality, similar work, etc. This store does not work with guides therefore they can offer lower prices. Its on a nice street by the marjorelle garden and some other cute shops.Written February 1, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Not so Savage!Guildford, UK49 contributionsMight be nice …. If you could find this place!? We walked round and round and only saw the industrial workshops which wasn’t quite what we’d expected based on the reviews.Written April 4, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
