What travelers are saying
- Girl Takes Mundo81 contributionsBe it day or night, this is the liveliest place in the Medina and city. I highly encourage travelers to visit during both times and pick a restaurant or cafe in the square to enjoy a mint tea/ bites from one of the many rooftop terraces.Written March 22, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Almeria2000Almeria, Spain383 contributionsOn our first arrival, this was a good location to stop/take a taxi (or horse-drawn carriage, should you wish).
It is in a good location to visit the Jewish quarter and the Riad Zitoun Lakdim plus Bahia Palace, Badi Palace, Saadian Tombs, Kasbah.
There is a 1 km lane called Rue Riad Zitoun Lakdim which connects Place des Ferblantiers with Jemaa el-Fna, about a 10 minute walk to the north, and much cheaper stalls than in the big souks north of the square.
Around the square is a spice market, jewellry arcade plus various shops and bars/restaurants (of which we had coffee at KosyBar and dinner at La Tanjia).Written January 10, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We visited to see what the thing was all about and it was very similar to other such markets. Many stalls selling a huge range of stuff. Prices can be whatever you want them to be! If you really want something then you should bargain. Start at a low price although you will first be asked to pay a price which is extraordinarily high. Keep bargaining until they agree to your offer. Try to walk away and if they chase you then they are willing to drop their price further. An interesting place if you have nothing better.Written June 9, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Patricia BrennanOrte, Italy203 contributionsThis is a small museum containing a private collection of modern art - about 100 works dating back through the past century. It is interesting. The gardens at the back of the museum are really lovely, especially the fascinating "jardin sec". Well worth the visit. A taxi from Marrakech centre will cost about 100 dh each way and it is wise to have the driver to wait for you because it will not be easy to pick up a taxi here.Written March 2, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MoclinejoMalaga, Spain92 contributionsthe best in that shopping center is the view from the top terrasse at the Atlas mountain. Downstairs there are some nice restaurants. The rest is averageWritten March 19, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- AliNewEnglandManchester, NH10 contributionsLovely small hassle & haggle free shop right next to the Secret Garden with plenty of fabrics and colors to choose from. I wish I wore scarves so I could have justified buying more than the two I needed for the trip! I paid about $20 US for each and was happy to do so. You won’t regret it!Written July 21, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Dimitris LSydney, Australia42,596 contributionsWe visited a number of Food Markets around the city. We were more interested in looking rather than buying anything. The food on offer looked interesting and it was the kind you would find anywhere. Some of the sellers can be a little pushy but that is probably part of the fun when walking around any city... Just have your wits about you!Written June 10, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- SeHaShShAppleby-in-Westmorland, UK31 contributionsWent in to buy a local painting for our host
Was met by the owner who organised for us to park directly outside his shop
Explained what we were looking for
Straight away showed us the relevant paintings we could chose from
Excellent choice
Excellent value for money for these exquisite paintings
Like all the shops in the area, you need to be able to haggle
Was very happy with the choice and price

Shops aren’t much to look at but ok for a place to get out of the heat.Written January 27, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ldgp14Walsall, UK2,680 contributionsDue to it's proximity to our hotel we visited the Medina Mall a few times during our time here in Marrakech. It is around a 25 minute walk from the Medina, it has a good selection of shops, with a mini souk, restaurants and entertainment floor it is a good place to grab a bite to eat.Written July 28, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Pjah73Sarasota, FL250 contributionsThis was our first souk visited during a 10 day trip to Morocco and, at the end, our favorite. For the tourist/visitor this souk completely fulfills what you imagine as an 'open market' in Morocco.
Everything you can imagine from local craft is here. From olives to shoes to silver to instruments to snake charmers... You want to buy it or see it? it's here for you.
We did not have a chance to visit at night but were advised that it's a busy spot for the locals to gather and enjoy thier evening with eating and dancing.Written October 4, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jchall21 contributionsThis shop is a secret gem that is well worth the visit. Beyond the beautiful authentic Berber jewelry, there are all kinds of treasures to be discovered. Be sure to have the owner show you the downstairs room. It is like a museum, and it is fun to learn the history of their collection. I came looking for an authentic Berber silver pendant and found other items that I had to have too. I'm sure that if I stayed longer, I would have bought more. The prices are fixed, but they are fair. They also carry items in a wide range of prices, so everyone can find a treasure!Written May 31, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - phillipa6Edenderry, Ireland105 contributionsI happened upon the souk when looking for some place else though it was on my list of todo. I have to say while it was interesting to see i probably expected more. The mad did show me the dyes and allowed me take photos without paying, but he then wanted me to buy a scarf for tather more than the market price. While it was interesting to see i wouldn't go out of my way to find it, as i say just allow yourself to get lost in the souk and you'll find all you want.Written October 21, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
