Would recommend everyone do this while in Honolulu. It’s an easy hike and excellent way to start the day if you’ll be spending time in Hawaii.

If you want to understand the modern world, you need to get a handle on WW2. This is a sobering outing but a really must-see.

O my word, what a place. It was a privilege to actually see the Arizona Memorial. I really don’t have any other words. Feel so very sorry for all the effected people.

Stunning palace with a fantastic background on the history of Hawaii. It helped us understand so much of what we saw/ experienced during our stay in Honolulu

A must do if you're going to Pear Harbor. Wonderfully surprised by the access you're given to explore this Battleship. Fabulous guided tour providing interesting information about the history of the Missouri.

The views at the end are very nice! The steep incline all the way up is fairly grueling though. Don’t recommend doing this during high noon or when there is no wind/breeze. Saw many dogs struggling to make it up with their owners too, and suggest leaving your pooch behind :)

If there is a place of beauty and peace that allows you to reflect on life and those who fought for your freedom, it is here. Beneath the blue sky, you can respectfully walk among the graves and admire the names of those who fought in the different wars. The walk up to the Memorial is mesmerizing, esp. with the huge, old trees lining the boulevard. You are greeted by Lady Columbia (large central statue) as you climb up the stairs, where there is a hidden chapel and galleries of historical war events mapped out in impressive detail -- many in gorgeous mosaics. You will also find breathtaking views of Waikiki, Diamond Head and the airport from a look-out point furnished with benches and a nice breeze. This is a really special place and I'm so glad I visited here; it's like heaven on earth. I learned some history from the magnificent galleries too. A great experience. Wheelchair/stroller access to the Memorial. Washrooms at the Chapel and Visitor Centre. Free entry. Open 8am-6pm.

We really enjoyed the temple. Buy tickets online and go early to avoid the crowds. Feed to fish and check out the little gift shop. The rope to the bell is nasty! Bring hand sanitizer.

We did a day trip here by renting a car from Enterprise at Discovery Bay Centre, Waikiki (best prices thru Costco, great service) and it's worth the drive away from the big city. Favourite places to go were Laniakea Beach for spotting sea turtles and Haleiwa Beach Park for parking, playground, basketball court, green areas for shade and picnicking, and access to surf-watching/ lessons. Great lunch at Kahuku Farms. Should snorkel here to avoid the crowds at Hanauma Bay. If you have a week to stay on the Island, you should try to venture to North Shore if you want to get away from the madding crowd of Honolulu and the southern coast.

Loved it here! We made a reservation and arrived just after opening. I highly recommend getting there at opening time or just before so you can get a parking spot. We just about had the waterfall to ourselves and when we were done swimming, tour buses and crowds started showing up.

Gorgeous grounds, easy walk to the falls. Even though it rained, we had patches of sun throughout. We swam in the falls- a life jacket is required which is provided and there is a place to store your items. There are also two changing rooms and a trailer of bathrooms before you get to the falls.

The fall was in full flow when we visited four days ago. The current was pretty strong and the water was deep.

People were arguing with the life guards about wearing a life jacket. My husband and son are very strong swimmers and they had to use all their force to swim near the waterfall because it was pouring out so forcefully. So, if you think you don’t need a life jacket, you just might. Put it on and enjoy safely!

There are also a couple of places to eat and a gift shop.

Absolutely beautiful place and we will be returning!

We loved our visit to the home of Doris Duke, she has a fascinating story and her home and all of her collections are just out of this world!
I managed to book us tickets for our trip to Hawaii this time around (the last time we were in Hawaii we didn’t realise there are only a set amount of spaces per day and they need to be booked at a certain time).
There are guides there to talk to as you wish and you can wander around at your own leisure taking photos and simply just take it all in. A prime spot over looking the ocean and out to Diamond Head.
    Didn’t want to leave!

I have been to the PCC more than five times since 1987. Every time I go it’s a fantastic experience. Why? Because many of these young and energetic LDS university student employees come from all the Polynesian cultures featured on-site and present an authentic and fun series of dancing, singing, arts and cultural events for visitors. Add to this a variety of food experiences, IMAX theatre, canoe shows and the best series of local arts, crafts and shopping on the islands, and it’s worth the long haul to La’ie. Go…you will have a great time!

    I visited with my family.
Everyone was very pleased to see so many unusual fruits (acai, mango, banana, cacao, lilikoi, etc.) actually growing!

This lookout is a must do if you’re driving along the highway, heading to the north shore, or to Byodo-in Temple. The view is spectacular and it’s one of the best places to get close to the mountains without having to hike a long or challenging trail.

This is a very specism historical site and there are several other unique elements at this location including a sacred site and traces of the old road.

We visited twice and each time the weather was different. The first time was close to evening and it was a bit windy and cloudy. The second time was super sunny but the rain and clouds came in while we were there. If you go, understand that conditions can change quickly and vary greatly. It’s a good idea to hold on to your hats and anything that might fly away.

There is a parking fee of $7 (Sept 2023) but it was well worth it. Yes on the mainland states there aren’t very many places where you have to pay to see a lookout but as this site is so special and has a several other elements too we didn’t mind paying to help with the upkeep of the site.

A great way to spend a couple of hours or longer. Lots of great sights to see. Walk on street or the beach. Specific access points to the beach.
