We spent half a day at the Ala Moana Center while staying in Waikiki. Easy to get to by bus. Loads of shops worth visiting as well as lots of restaurants. Always very busy.

We walked around the International Market place several times on our visit to Waikiki. A couple of the restaurants in the food court were the best that we ate at in Waikiki. Dukes Lane that runs alongside the International market place has lots of small market stalls - remember to bargain your price!

A beautiful shopping centre. Offers a number of great events throughout the week that are worth checking out. Everything is listed on their website. Only one of my daughters was able to do the Lei making activity on Friday due to space limitations. We arrived 15 minutes early and still there was only one of the 24 available spots left!! So if you want to do this, plan to get there early! The lady who runs this event is quite strict - she made a 9 and three quarter year old cry when she booted her out just before the class was starting as she didn't meet the minimum age requirement of 10. They have other cultural events which are great - hula dancing shows, some singing, even hula dancing lessons my kids did. But beware - they are quick to cancel. We didn't get to see the scheduled Saturday Hula show as it was cancelled for some unknown reason. Cancellations are never listed on the website which is too bad. Google them to find their site to check out their different offerings. Another great free hula show is right on Waikiki beach. Every Tuesday and Saturday, it runs from 6:30-7:30. We walked over to that after seeing the Saturday show was cancelled at the Royal Hawaiian and it was great! The family really enjoyed it.

Spent several hours shopping, it is an outside mall and spread out so you get your steps in. All ships are air conditioned to give a break from the heat. There are some bargains to be had you just need to spend the time to find them. Teenage daughter was super happy with her huge haul.
There are food trucks outside however if you want food inside your options are KFC, McDonalds, Chillis etc.

We were pleasantly surprised by the variety and prices of food here. We basically did our groceries and saved lots of money, and the food was excellent.

Unless you have a car on the island of Oahu, you have to rely on public transportation, including the bus, or the hop on hop off trolley. I opted to use the trolley, and I was on the very first run from Waikiki to the farmers market. I was able to get fresh produce for our week of vacation along with some interesting cookies, some unique popcorn, and grab a quick bite of breakfast and an iced coffee. There seem to be more prepared food versus produce at this particular market. I did have to wait for a second trolley due to demand and the 10 am was full. This is more a situation with the trolleys for this is the actual farmers market. I would recommend this for any travelers to be able to support the local, farmers and artisans.

Our family travels to Oahu often and we’re looking for something new and different to do on this trip. I booked a tour and we all really enjoyed it! It was fun and informative! Austin was our guide and he did a great job of being friendly and educational! We left with a couple of bottles of rum to share with our neighbors when we get home.

Foodlands was such a brilliant supermarket. Staying in a nearby hotel, we visited a few times to purchase fruit, breakfast and lunch foods. The range of food available was huge. We were happy with all purchases. Clean, well set out and staff helpful.

Shop for the things for your stay! Interact with wonderful artists and small, local growers. It is charming and pleasant. We will go back on the second day later this week! ❤️

We came here to go to the cinema and popped into the pub for lunch before we went in to the movie. Nice enough place with a lot of shops.

Great selection and prices. I loved this place - we spent a long time combing through all the racks to find 'the' shirt. Many are actually made in HI. Prices were similar to or slightly lower than what we saw elsewhere for similar quality. Be aware this feels more like a flea market than, say, Macy's. Personally I found it quirky and fun but YMMV. It's a bit off the beaten path.

Nice Centre. Monorail wasn’t running which was a bit of a disappointment but some fun stores, actually probably more stores that I enjoyed than what’s at ala Moana for my personal taste and it’s indoor to take a break from the heat.

The Japanese Cultural Center was easy to find, there is parking in their lot for a slight fee or plenty of street parking.
FYI, it is located close to Wakiki hotels. They had 2 exhibits, one was free and had a movie which was about the intern ment of the Japanese during WW2, and the other was an exhibit about the ancestry and life of Japanese in Hawaii, there was a fee. This exhibit was very interesting and well done. What was especially nice was that the peaople at the center circulated in the area and answered questions and explained some of the exhibits.
