- Craig SFort Lauderdale, FL3 contributionsIf you’re a passionate golfer, this is a must do. Currently I’m a 14 hcp, I live in south Florida and I played 107 rounds last year at 13 different clubs - including some of the best private clubs in south FL. This was 10x better than any course I’ve ever played.
Two important pieces of advice: (1) get a caddie. On at least 1/3 of your tee shots the ideal line is not at all obvious, and the line you’re likely to take will put you in a lot of trouble. Into the grain the greens are like Velcro, 50’ putts are closer to a driver swing than a putt, with the grain they are as fast as marble. Before the round the caddie helped me get a feel for this on the practice green. This is a super windy course, there were times when we had 50mph winds in our face and others at our back. I don’t have tons of experience judging how many clubs up or down I should use with that kind of wind and the green is 60’ below my feet. Duane was my caddie and he was amazing. Great guy, loves the game, loves this course and he knows everything about it. Ask for him and tip him well.
(2) if you are here to enjoy the experience and have a good time, do yourself a huge favor and play the 6100y Resort tees. Caddie recommended this for anyone who doesn’t play here a few times a year. Even though I typically roll out my drive to 275, these tees made a big difference. The group I was paired with played the 6400y resort combo tees, they were both 7 hcp and I think they regretted it on a couple of holes. Taking your second shot with an 7-8i is a lot more fun than a fairway wood - esp in these conditions.
You can see the ocean on pretty much every hole, we were here in February, the height of whale season. If I hit a bad shot, I could just look at the ocean, see a whale jump in the air and get back to calm golfing.
One more thing to see is the locker room. All the past TOC winners have a locker there, grab a photo with Tiger’s or you fav golfer’s locker.
Finally, bring a rain jacket if you’re here in the winter. We only had 15 minutes of light rain. And we also had a lot of sun. Any time of the year you’re going to experience a lot of different weather during your round.Written February 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The views were stunning of the ocean and we saw the whales flipping in the distance from the putting area.
The staff were welcoming and the food after was superb.

It can be windy during certain times of the year, but we had NO wind that day and sunny weather.
My husband calls every course whenever he books anywhere to check if they punch or sand the greens. And he focuses on weather conditions. To net, it was a great day of golf at this course.Written January 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. For the Royal course, first 4-5 holes stayed on the side of busy streets and beach and that can be a turn-off. The course then, however, crosses Rt 30. It then offers beautiful views and wide fairways.
Water and bunkers keep the course challenging. Greens are well-maintained.

Staff are all friendly and helpful. My wife and I played more than 20 morning rounds in February and March 2023 and only a couple of rounds were more than 4 hours. I can't recommend it highly enough.Written March 14, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- irawineBenicia, CA568 contributionsMy wife and I specifically went to this golf club to see the Frank Lloyd Wright designed clubhouse. It is very impressive and the setting is fantastic. We were able to walk into the clubhouse and noted a number of FLW design features inside (e.g., doors, lights, etc.). - Roadking51Newcastle, CA156 contributionsBeautiful setting and well maintained course with great views of the Pacific throughout the 18 holes. Carts are all propane. - lesliebaumanKirkland, WA1,018 contributionsIt is quite organized when you arrive with someone ready to grab your clubs and prepare them on your cart. There is a nice driving range and practice putting area. The course was much better than gold which was nice on the front nine but the back nine the fairways overlapped and balls were spraying all over the place. Emerald is much more private from hole to hole. Still nice wide fairways and a fun course to play.Written July 25, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ed MStuttgart, Germany188 contributionsThe pro shop is across the street from the Shops at Wailea. The front 9 has arguably the best views on Maui. I play here every visit. - Becky Hart1 contributionOur family of five spent 10 days in April at The Ridge 2423-24 and it was AMAZING. The view off the lanai can't be beat. We saw tons of whales as we ate breakfast on the lanai. We went to sleep listening to the waves and feeling the ocean breeze. The living area was spacious and beautifully decorated. The couches are super comfortable. The kitchen is also spacious and had everything we needed to prepare a large variety of meals. Our kids loved eating at the counter in the high chairs when they weren't eating out on the lanai. They slept in the bunk beds in the room on the main level, which also had a queen bed in it. The master bedroom has a very comfortable king-size bed, and there is also another bed upstairs making it easy for larger groups to stay here. Our kids loved walking to the pool next door every day, and we also walked down to the beach daily. Our 3-year-old easily made the walk himself. The location, comfort, and views from this condo can't be beat. Highly recommend!!!Written May 2, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BarryandJackieBerkeley, CA1,053 contributionsThey keep the course in fairly good shape, although it would be grand if more players used the sand provided on their carts to fix divots on the fairway. Greens are large with some elevation changes but not too many as you get closer to the hole. Some narrow fairways and easy to lose balls off the fairway, and into some water areas. Worth a visit.Written February 1, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- DBrunskRegina, Canada24 contributionsLove the vistas on this course. If you are a real pro you may be disappointed with the greens, but to me Kahilimis as great as ever. Great pace of play. Lots of challenge. Helpful staff. Highly recommend for average golfers. Great rates.Written January 19, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ryan M4 contributionsI really enjoyed the overall experience. I would say course management a 7/10. Greens I give a 9/10. The fairways are wide open. The "club house" a 2/10, but its because its a park course and not a club or resort, so don't expect it to be nice. I did not try the food or any drinks. They have 2 bathrooms on the course and I saw 1 water station out there. I give the course a 4/10. The course does play long and there are bunkers on most holes. There is one water hole. The views I would give a 10/10. It did not cost a lot to play right new to the ocean. Overall, I recommend it for all golfers and would play again.Written January 3, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
