- RonnyC2723Dallas, TX83 contributionsKaanapali Beach is the most beautiful in the world.I have explored beaches almost throughout the world and have found none better. The sands are beautiful and the sunsets are gorgeous. Taking a cruise offers breathtaking rainbows and a chance to outrun porpoises or watching whales in the winter. It is always fun simply to see an occasional storm blanketing the high mountain ranges in the mornings or evenings. Amazingly there are no trash or litter. God help you if you are caught littering. No one does however. I’m also amazing that though there are crowds, it’s never crowded. Solitude is available everywhere. Come watch the Black Rock diver jump from Black Rock located directly behind the Sheraton Hotel. Have a romantic dinner at the Hula Grill or Monkepod. Shopping at whalers Village is fun, especially during the early evenings,Written August 6, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - emilysresortsdotcomNewark, CA54 contributionsYou’ll have a long hike from the parking lot down to the blowhole. It can be a little bumpy and slippery on the way down so I recommend wearing aqua shoes or sandals with fasteners. Also, there tends to be quite a bit of pedestrian traffic so you’ll need to be patient.
Once you get to the bottom and the blowhole, enjoy and take lots of pictures!Written August 6, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This spot on Big Beach cost $10 to park, but is well worth it! Beautiful water, lots of people; but tons of parking and space on the beach for everyone!Written August 1, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LarsieBDenver, Colorado, USA1,188 contributionsThis is a gorgeous beach in Maui which my family and I thoroughly enjoyed, but be careful because the water can get quite treacherous - I got seriously dumped here (even though my photos don't show massive waves). You also need to be careful with the rip because it can start pulling you towards the rocks which makes it more dangerous, but even so we loved this beach and had a lot fun with our boogie boards and body surfing. I also really appreciated the fact that there was a lifeguard on duty and a beautiful park with lawn you could sit and have picnics, outdoor showers and toilets and parking nearby too. I love this part of Maui and highly recommend going to Kamaole Beach III (or any of the three Kamaole beaches)!!Written June 18, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - WikumjBromley, UK202 contributionsOne of the best beaches on East Maui, this was both picturesque and had all the modern facilities and convenience you want at a beach. Hotel staff were helpful despite us not being guests at the resort. Waters were reasonably calm so ok for swimming and snorkelling (best at the south end). We went kayaking which was $50 per hour for the two of us which seemed reasonable and was well worth it. For food there was a beach shack for cheap fare and high end restaurants tied to the resort.Written August 8, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - WikumjBromley, UK202 contributionsA stunning and easy coastal walk with plethora of picture perfect postcard views across a range of different types of terrain. We went during the evening for sunset and there were a number of people with photographers getting professional photographs taken. One of our favourite activities on our day trip to West Maui.Written August 8, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - drtdanielRedding, California54 contributionsThis was an awsome treat, very cold and windy even on a 90 degree day in Maui, take a jacket with a hoodie, hats are blown away! This is a MUST See eXPERIENCE!Written August 9, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Wayne HMaui, HI95 contributionsMy wife and I had a pleasant afternoon at the Maui Ocean Centre. Our favourite areas were ‘The Living Reef’ and the exhibit about Kaho’olawe. We spent about 5 hours, which felt about right. I should say that we are the type to take our time and read most of the interpretive material.
The restaurant had good food. I would recommend it to adults or families.Written May 27, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. And flippers walking out to the water. We saw 3 turtles! We felt the far left side was the best snorkeling or of your a strong swimmer wayyy out to the right. The jungle you walk through to get to the beach is AMAZING!! Video/photograph that whole walk. The sounds are amazing.Written July 4, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- WikumjBromley, UK202 contributionsDefinitely go to the summit at sunset instead of sunrise, it is as spectacular and means you don’t have to get up at 3am, and it doesn’t require a reservation! At any time of day it depends what the clouds are doing that determines how spectacular it looks.
It takes a couple of hours to get up the mountain and I advise getting up to the top at least an hour before sunset is scheduled as the car park at the summit does fill up, even for sunset.
It is very cold so bring plenty of layers and also snacks/drink as there is obviously nothing up there. There are a couple of restroom stops on the way at the visitors centre
There are also plenty of hiking trails if you want to go earlier in the day and make a day of it.Written August 8, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The tree has to be seen to be believed - it’s so unusual how the branches bend down and become new trunks, creating a sprawling network. Lots of benches to sit on in the area.Written August 8, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- michelle mVentura, CA5 contributionsA great beach for snorkeling or just relaxing and taking in the beautiful views. This beach is not as busy as some of the larger beaches. - Worthy TravelsSan Francisco, CA397 contributionsWaianapanapa is a destination you must visit when embarking on the road trip to Hana. However, since a reservation is now required to enter, be sure to strictly adhere to your time slot of choice. If you're late, you will be refused entry to the park.
The beach boasts of unique black sand and extremely picturesque surroundings. The water, although a bit chilly to begin with, was refreshing and our kids just loved riding the small waves.
Don't forget to explore the small cave to your right at the bottom of the stairs. Not too crowded but winds start blowing around noon so it gets a little tough to hang out much later than that. Great place to watch sunset as well.Written July 24, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Hammer5505Ripon, CA30 contributionsOne of the most breathtaking snorkeling experiences I’ve ever had, and at such low cost! We rented snorkeling gear for $10/person (for two hours!) and then swam around finding beautiful fish and coral. We even got to swim with a beautiful sea turtle and watch one take a nap on the beach!
The water is very salty so it was easy to snorkel without a floatation device, and we were so close to the shallow coral that it sometimes took a lot of work to avoid touching it.
I can’t recommend this spot highly enough. Absolute highlight of my trip! Parking is the toughest part so bring a healthy dose of patience.
