- E PNew York City, NY13 contributionsOur tour guide, Kennedy, was great! She was very knowledgeable and passionate about pineapples! I learned so much about the planting and growing of pineapples, as well as how to choose a good pineapple. I also sadly learned that the pineapples we get on the mainland are from the Philippines and Costa Rica, not Hawaii. When we were flying from Maui to Kauai we were told at the airport that the pineapples we were given at the tour counted as one piece of luggage so we had to scramble and stuff them into our carryon luggage. We should have been told that on the tour. Mahalo.Written October 11, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TravelingSoccerLoonSaint Paul, MN8,529 contributionsEasy hike to a rocky promontory with spectacular views of Honokalua Bay. I started at beautiful DT Fleming Beach and made the easy walk on the Dragon's Teeth Trail out to rocky Makaluapuna Point. Spectacular views of the coastline and it was awesome watching the waves crashing against the rocks. Wear good shoes as it becomes very rocky and can be slippery when wet. After finishing this hike, I continued on the scenic Kapalua Coastal Trail which ended at Kapalua Beach. Not much parking available near the trailhead and it sounds like they are now charging quite a bit. I was staying at the Sheraton on Ka'anapali Beach and used the free West Maui Shuttle that leaves hourly throughout the day and brings you to the Ritz Carlton which is near the starting point for this hike. It also stops at the Westin and Hyatt. Just show your room key.Written February 20, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kennedy F1 contributionThe variety of animals was awesome and unique compared to traditional petting zoos. Heidi is super knowledgeable about the animals in her care and we loved her enthusiasm and energy during the tour!Written February 11, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - EDGCDelray Beach, Florida, United States32 contributionsWe had an informative and fun tour of the farm with James. I love all of the produce they grow and loved learning how so many of the parts of the plant are used. The interactive nature of the tour was great—I loved smelling crushed leaves and tasting all sorts of fruits and flowers. We enjoyed an amazing 4 course lunch that began with a beautiful salad (greens, veggies, tomatoes and flowers) along with the most delicious focaccia. The fish course was a moist marlin with lovely black rice (with garlic chives) and a beautiful avocado based purée. Next was grilled boneless chicken thighs—juicy and marinated served with a kale slaw and a parsnip and rutabaga purée (WOW). Roasted parsnips on the side too. Fresh fruit and homemade chocolate truffles finished the meal—along with delicious homegrown coffee. Perfect Kula day.Written March 3, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

The drive gets more spectacular the higher you get. It is a somewhat challenging winding road with steep drop-offs in parts and with no guardrail, but it is well paved and manageable if you are a confident driver and take your time especially when making the descent. It's a long drive. It takes about an hour to reach the summit once you start on the Highway. The drive is enjoyable but reaching the summit of the crater is the highlight. I found the GuideAlong Audio Tour (also known as the GyPSy App) to be very helpful when making the drive as it provides much information about Haleakalā, and it helps pass the time. I stopped at a couple spots to get photos as you can see all the way down the southern coast of Maui to McGregor Point if the weather is clear. If it is cloudy and raining, there is no point to making this harrowing drive as you won't see anything at the summit.Written February 24, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TravelingSoccerLoonSaint Paul, MN8,529 contributionsScenic drive around West Maui. Along the southern coast, you will find McGregor Point and Lighthouse and the Papawai Scenic Lookout where whales can be seen migrating from December to March. The Ka'anapali Beach and Kapalua resort area is along the western coast. The drive becomes more adventurous after leaving Kapalua. It becomes a scenic and winding road, and the landscape becomes wilder the further you drive. The road is actually in good shape and relatively easy to drive all the way to the Nakalele Blowhole. However, after that it becomes a challenging and scary drive. Keep driving only if you have great confidence and much patience. The road becomes narrow and treacherous with no shoulder or guardrails and steep drop offs. It is best to be traveling east or clockwise when making this drive so that you are on the inside and not having to hug the side of the cliff. Night driving would be a huge mistake or when it's raining heavily, and visibility is poor. The scenic Ohai Loop Trail and the Olivine Tide Pools can be found through this section. However, the road just gets even worse as you near the village of Kahakuloa. It becomes a single lane and approaching cars will force one to reverse to the last cut out which can be yards down the road so that the other car can pass. This is truly a backwater section of the island and locals are not fond of tourists and clearly made that be known. I'm pretty adventurous and have driven roads in the rural areas of Ireland and the UK and all over the Caribbean including Jamaica, Antigua and Tobago. However, this was by far the most challenging and stressful road that I have ever encountered. However, at the end of the drive is the outstanding Waihee Ridge Trail Hike that takes you up into the lush green mountains and offers amazing views of the north coast of Maui.Written February 22, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - KimberlyntruongArlington, TX2 contributionsOur guide, Naki Kanekoa or "Kana", was wonderful! He was very knowledgeable about the history of the gardens and plant life, and was very engaging and charismatic! Kana provided a history for many of the Hawaiian flora and elaborated on the meaning behind many of the more commonly used Hawaiian words. This really gave us a new point of view that helped us respect the natural beauty of the island and Hawaiian culture even more. The chocoholic ending was also a big win!Written August 10, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- TravelingSoccerLoonSaint Paul, MN8,529 contributionsEasy hiking on a well-marked trail offering spectacular coastal views. 1.4-mile hike which I did counterclockwise. Plenty of parking available. It does require driving on the challenging Kahekili Hwy which makes the Road to Hana seem easy. You can experience after first hiking to the nearby Nakalele Blowhole which is a short drive away. It was really windy here so hold on to your hats.Written February 21, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Roselani K1 contributionEverything was awesome!! But the only thing that was really not good is your lawn chairs are way way to Flimsy. As for larger people it's really uncomfortable for them. I would not want to be one of them if those chairs break while I'm sitting on it that would be a huge embarrassment. Maui Arts and cultural Center Should Make an Exception for people who are overweight bring in their own chairs. It's sad I witnessed a similar situation that very night at the front of the stage. where a couple had to be moved to the back because of the chair situation he was too big for the chair. They paid the money to be in the second row up front at the stage they should've just let them bring their chairs in. That was very embarrassing for the couple.Written April 21, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- TravelingSoccerLoonSaint Paul, MN8,529 contributionsAfter passing by the resort area of Ka'anapali and Kapalua, Route 30 takes on a very different look and feel. It becomes a scenic and winding road, and the landscape becomes more remote the further you drive. The road is actually in good shape and relatively easy to drive using reasonable caution all the way to the Nakalele Blowhole. However, after that it becomes a challenging and somewhat treacherous road. Keep driving only if you have nerves of steel and great patience. Just prior to the Nakalele Blowhole, the road actually turns into Route 340, the Kahekili Hwy. This is the notorious section of road that becomes narrow and is eventually just a single lane where approaching cars will force one to reverse to the last cut out to allow passing. The highlights along Hwy 30 in this area include Slaughterhouse Beach, Honolua Bay offering terrific snorkeling, the Acid War Zone Hike to the Nakalele Blowhole, and the Ohai Loop Trail offering scenic coastal views (although this is actually along the above-mentioned Kahekili Hwy).Written February 21, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kaitlinh B4 contributionsAMAZING!! If you are a fan of fruit fan tours--THIS IS A MUST. My family and I really enjoyed this once in a lifetime experience. Crystal's passion for what she does is so easy to see. We got to see cherimoya, dragon fruit, sapote, pomegranate, bananas, pineapple, mango, papaya trees and so much more that I forgot. Been to Maui many times and kicking myself that I never found this tour before. At the end we got treated to 2 huge plates of fresh cut fruit and dragon fruit lemonade. A side note--my aunt is a bit older and Crystal offered to have someone drive her in a golf cart to accommodate us. I am fortunate to get to do lots of fun things and this experience definitely ranks as one of the top things I did this year.Written February 8, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
