Saw the signs for “Free Goat Therapy” on the way to Akaka Falls and had to stop. So glad that we did! It was one of the most memorable finds during our trip. There was a small building that housed tons of handmade goods as well as homemade goat cheese, fudge and caramels. Plus you can purchase a bag of goat treats for $1 and go into the pasture to feed all the adorable goats.

I had the opportunity to take classes from Maya at the Mauna Kea resort and at her studio in Hawi. The resort classes are appropriately all-levels with great instruction and individual feedback. The class in Hawi is a more advanced class, and as good as any similar class in my home town of Santa Barbara. Over the course of two weeks, I saw Maya meet new students each class, address them by name and provide meaningful feedback during the class. She immediately recognized me at my first class even though it had been three years since the last time I took one of her classes. I've been taking yoga classes regularly (4 times or more per week) for more than 10 years, so its rare that I pick up something new and useful, but I did in Maya's class. If you are into yoga, you will love her classes. If you are new to yoga, her classes are an excellent introduction.

I have really enjoyed starting a yoga practice under the guidance of the instructors at Yoga Centered. I have felt accepted, comfortable, not crowded, and that I could trust the classes to mold to my needs and abilities. There is a lightness in this studio that is very welcome compared to some I’ve visited; humor, smiles, and all around positive vibes have kept me engaged for a month. Their schedule and variety of class types really allows for freedom within my new practice. Overall, a very fun and peaceful place to do yoga.

The food is fresh, healthy, delicious, flavorful, plentiful and affordable. Made daily with professional attention there is also a sense of love and appreciation for the clients. The kitchen is open so you can see how clean and careful it is prepared. Very easy to select your own portions, choose from many hot dish options and cool salad bar, and then pay to go or stay in air-conditioned comfort.

Wednesday from 8:00 - 9:30, I joined a yoga class with Celeste at Honl's Beach, Kona. Celeste is an Excellent instructor; positive, friendly and so welcoming - oh and her teaching expertise is pretty impressive too. Can't beat the environment too - doing yoga while the waves rolled in and dolphins played off shore. I attended 3 times while in Kona. Celeste had a couple spare yoga mats so that made joining really easy. Give her a bit of a donation to take part, and I know you want regret it.

I travel extensively and always check out local studies on my journeys. I was so pleased with this studio that I took class almost every day of my 10 day stay. (Side note relevant to my review - I have studied and taught yoga for several years [500-RYT] especially working with people who experience chronic pain, PTSD, and physical or other disabilities). Their classes were simultaneously accessible, regardless of ability or experience, and challenging to the most seasoned practitioner, all masterfully integrating Pantajali's 8-limbed philosophy in unique and complementary ways. In layman's terms...WOW! Any student at any level in any place in life (physical or otherwise), can find their belonging here.

I started with Elli's Sunday evening Candlelight Yin class, then Monika's Monday morning All Level Flow, then Amara's Tuesday morning All Level Flow, and rounded it all off with Dina's Wim Hof Wednesday. It was immediately evident that I had found my "nesting" place. Each instructor shared their calm spiritual energy and expansive knowledge in unique and fascinating ways. They guided the practices in such beautiful, supportive ways, allowing each student to explore their own boundaries. In all my years of practicing yoga, I have never been so touched by the collective energy and insight that radiated throughout every encounter in the space. The cool oil infused washcloths are such a rejuvenating treat! The whole experience at Yoga Next enriched an already incredible trip.

I've gone to yoga studios all over the country and Soul Center has a certain peacefulness that is wonderful to find. Fantastic instructor- where I felt like the personal attention I received really deepened my practice. Definitely going back!

If you make it to The Big Island and love to work your body and ease your mind. Bikram Yoga Kona is your place. I got to take both my favorite classes, Hot Yoga & Hot Pilates. They also have Vinyasa & Restorative and all the classes are safe for all types of practitioners, newbie or seasoned. All the instructors there are helpful, encouraging, and positive. I could feel my postures getting stronger. Especially with Mark & Crista’s classes. They have an awesome selection of women’s yoga clothes, hot yoga towels and mats for sell and/or rent. They also have sundries like water and coconut water.

Such a relaxing morning yoga session. Left the class ready to take on my day. I didn't have a mat but I was able to rent one. I am a beginner, and the instructor helped me find the right variation of each pose for my skill level. All around great energy in the class, I will be back!

I'm here for a month and needed to make sure that I stayed on top of exercising. HYH has a great visitor's package which is 49 per week for as many classes as you want which also includes a mat and towel. The room is clean and hot and the instructors so far have been excellent. It also has plenty of room for storage and a shower. It's been great for my achy joint and muscles with all the hiking and driving. A plus is that it's right in downtown Hilo next to the farmer's market that's open until 5p and a bunch of restaurants and cafes to grab lunch or dinner afterwards.

I highly recommend No Place Like Om Yoga Studio for all levels, from beginning through advanced. Karuna(Kathryn) is extremely well-trained in all aspects of this spiritual/mental/physical practice and her focus on an alignment-based approach ensures that students do not get injured. Her knowledge of the body and its integration is deep and thorough. Classes may include inspirational comments and chanting as well as embracing enhanced energetic flow and greater mental clarity.

I met Rebecca Raynor the Yoga teacher who conducts retreats in Hawaii last month and immediately fell in love with the idea of a getaway to Hawaii while healing the body, mind and soul simultaneously.

She is a wonderful teacher. Experienced and patient. The entire retreat experience was well worth the cost! It was in a beautiful location with activities starting at dawn till dusk. The vegetarian food is freshly prepared and tasty beyond words.

My favourite part of attending the course was the meditation time. We had to sit by the shore and chant Aum or silently observe the sea. It was the most relaxing and calming feeling ever.

For all of you looking for a Holiday getaway to Hawaii, combine it with Jaya Yoga as they have packages to include Airfare, accommodation and 3 meals a day with Spa and Yoga facilities.

All in all the best way to experience Hawaii!
