What travelers are saying
- FoodieWineFunVancouver, WA77 contributionsThis national park is a great experience, whether you can only visit for an hour or two, or take days to hike and see more. We and another couple chose a 2 hour tour, as we drove over from Kona as a day-trip. We started at the Visitor Center, and the rangers there were extremely helpful in tailoring our tour for the time we had. Just walking across the street from the Visitor Center to the hotel offered stunning views. We then made the short drive to a couple wayside/viewpoints, and were blown away by the views of the crater. We heard there is a road that winds down into the crater, but that happened to be closed that day, next time! If you're on the Big Island, don't miss this.Written December 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- shellejcatsLeawood, KS8 contributionsShin was an awesome guide and shared so much interesting information with us. The views were out of this world! It was so cool to be at the balmy beautiful beach on one day and then the next day be up amongst the clouds seeing the ocean from the top of the world. The sky was massive and the stars were so bright.Written December 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - trout04Portland32 contributionsThis was one of the most amazing and beautiful botanical gardens I've ever visited. It contains orchids, anthuriums, colocasia (elephant ears), lilies, gingers, banana plants, Tillandsia cyanea (pink quill) and many, many more. The koi pond is huge, the paths clear and easy to navigate. However, the boardwalk down to the garden is very steep and the paths contain steps so it's not suitable for mobility devices. We spent several very enjoyable hours exploring the waterfalls, admiring the tikis, and artifacts like the Portuguese wood burning oven and hand carved canoe.Written December 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - oklambsrusColbert, OK86 contributionsLong drive to end of road. They charge $10 to park and $5 for each person. You can see it from the top of the view but not very good. You really need to walk down 53 steps to see it.Written December 7, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NorthStar2943849231815 contributionsAn incredibly beautiful and picturesque beach with turquoise waters and white sands. It also has the most dangerous waves and powerful surf I've ever been in. The waves are calm and small, then out of nowhere a giant one comes crashing down and wipes everyone out. I was thrown off my body board and almost broke my neck as it tumbled me into the ocean floor. The next wave got me again and took my hair tie out of my hair, and it was securely up in a bun! My husband and I were both shaken by how deceptively powerful the waves were, and we didn't stay in for long, even though we're both experienced swimmers. I wouldn't let children in this water, and be very careful yourself. The lifeguards have to rescue 81 people per year on average at this beach! Make sure you know how to deal with waves and protect yourself in the water, or better yet just stay on the pristine beach and enjoy the view.Written December 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JBN1958Highland Park, IL137 contributionsOutstanding white sand beach with great facilities, lots of parking, and decent snorkeling. Wind was howling so blowing sand was a bit of a nuisance but that can’t take away from how spectacular this beach is. Definitely worth a visit.Written October 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- David D2 contributionsSome friends did the tour back in November and highly recommended we visit the place. It was really neat. Learned so much about how complicated it is the grow vanilla beans and got quite a history lesson as well. Small locally owned farm made the experience even better.Written December 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Elizabeth VFairmont, MN200 contributionsSo cool to see real black sand! Many sea turtles sunbathing and going back into the water! We saw one being tagged & released and one having fishing line removed from its neck.Written November 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AprilForbesSalisbury, UK1,609 contributionsThe Rainbow waterfalls are very close to the car parking area.
The foliage is beautiful and green and it certainly made the surroundings beautiful.
It was a shame that I didn't get to see a rainbow at the waterfalls, but it was impressive never the less.Written November 28, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - WJL5Sydney, Australia44 contributionsUnique place to visit, highly recommend the Kilauea Iki trail which takes you across the Kilauea Iki Crater floor. Not an easy walk (steep descent and climb with lots of stairs etc) but amazing views.Written December 11, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
