- ReservarldenLondon, UK377 contributionsFantastic views all around the city from the summit point although the surrounding trees do obscure some of that view. There is no shade at all at the top, but there are a small number of vendors selling snacks and drinks. Good for a nice safe stroll too.Written April 14, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Myo MCoquitlam, Canada24,691 contributionsWith quite a bit of "gold glitters" inside (on the main altar & also on the two big shrines or secondary altars on the two sides near the main altar), this main cathedral of the city for me was actually kind of a "refreshing reminder" of those visited in South America (just more in common with similar glittering interiors of the main cathedrals of the countries much further down south than the interiors of those in the countries immediately to the south which despite their spacious interiors tend to be on a "plainer side") although yes this glittering scene was to continue in the cathedrals to come as I headed further north through Central America. And likely being also a cathedral steeped in the history of the country, its "somewhat different" appearances in like 3 different periods along the country's timeline are featured on postcards (the 3 postcards that I got later from a souvenir market nearby).
Located at like the "downtown core" of the city (quite a bustling area actually with big crowds & narrow streets), there's like a nice "diagonal view" of the Cathedral from the plaza right in front (although not a very great frontal view somewhat obscured by trees on the plaza), and just about a 5-minute walk after heading out from the plaza along the "pedestrian street" on the west side (the far side across the plaza from this cathedral) is Palacio Nacional with like a national museum inside (kind of a combo museum of "history & art" but really just not much of displays to see); and also just at about halfway along that "pedestrian street" (with various shops & food places along both sides) followed by a right turn onto another similar street and after a short walk to the end is Iglesia de Dolores (with not much inside but a nice church with kind of a "pleasant atmosphere" for a quick walk around) and where right outside that church along one side of its own plaza is a nice "souvenir market" (where I got those historic cathedral postcards as mentioned above along with also some nice keychains of the city & the country).Written November 10, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Most of the photos here are of the Basilica, which is down the road from the National Autonomous University of Honduras. TripAdvisor needs to fix this error, especially since the nighttime photo shown with the Basilica of Suyapa is not very helpful.Written July 23, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Victor Edgardo DTegucigalpa, Honduras54 contributionsIt’s well located, it has stores, a supermarket, financial area and plenty of parking, that you have to pay. There is a food-court with plenty of fast food places! It also has a cinema area in the third level. It a place to gather with friends in one of several coffee shops. If you stay in the Intercontinental Hotel is across the street! Secure and big!! I don’t like to pay for parking in a mall but...Written March 19, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Myo MCoquitlam, Canada24,691 contributionsNot much is there to see inside this church, but there's just somehow an "atmosphere of pleasantness" likely due to its good floor layout for kind of a spacious walk around it (although not a particularly big interior) and also yes in part due to some lovely shrines featuring colorful sculptures & such. But actually more than the church itself, I would say that the "better parts" of the visit here are to the plaza right outside (a "fairly spacious" one with also some interesting outdoor display of a pair of statues one of which a sword-wielding angel standing over that of an evil-doer or such) and also to the indoor market along one side of the plaza (a great place for just all varieties of souvenir of Honduras from "quite a number" of small shops inside).
Located at like the "downtown core" of the city (an area with narrow streets some of which not for vehicles but just for pedestrians lined with shops on both sides), just within a 5-minute walk from this church by first heading out across the plaza to the intersecting street just a block away then to the left for a short walk is another "bigger plaza" which is Parque Central with the city's "main cathedral" Catedral de San Miguel on the far side of that plaza with also a number of trees providing shade right in front of the cathedral (with a beautiful facade of pillars & statues and a "golden beauty" of the main altar & some big shrines near the altar). And also just within a 5-minute walk from this church but in the "opposite direction" from going to the cathedral is the "long building" which is Palacio Nacional with a museum inside (one like a national museum which is kind of a combo one of "history & art" but with not very much of displays to see on its 2 levels).Written November 12, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is a bustling hub of people and there are food and drink stalls as well as vendors of other items such as clothes. It is a good place to people watch, just keep your guard up though and be discrete with your phone as phones are the number 1 target for thieves in Tegus.Written March 11, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - gammishFort Lauderdale, FL546 contributionsWe were guests for a beautiful wedding at this church. It is huge! Very decorative and right in the middle of a bustling city. The church was packed and standing room only space for the wedding - more than 300 guests easily. Great time although a bit sweaty!Written June 25, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- bucketlisttravellersSydney, Australia3,783 contributionsThis is a beautiful plaza in the middle of old town. There is a striking statue of St Michael Archangel in the square, the oldest church in Honduras at the end of the square and a marketplace nearby.Written March 11, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jacklin3 contributionsI loved visiting Villas San Miguel, a place where there is a lot of history, a safe place to sit with your family either to eat or just have a coffee to talk and make memories.I loved the people painting the pictures and the handmade things of our Country reflected in one place. I would visit this place again :)Written February 28, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Nohelia AComayagua9 contributionsWhen we talk about America in Latin America, we mean the whole continent from North to South America and everything in between. Well, the Comayagua Cathedral or commonly known as Catedral de la Inmaculada Concepción,is right in the middle of this old colonial city in Honduras. Honduras as the rest of Latin America was ruled by the Spanish during the XVI to XIX Century that left behind a curious mixed of history and, when the cultural and religious syncretism gives to the region more than see the eye which is impossible to ignore.
Comayagua city was designed to be the most important city in the province. Created under a Royal Decree, its authorities, specially religious were very important men with important conections back at Spain. The king at that time, who was related with the archbishop in the new city decided to give to the church a very old arabic clock that was in The Alhambra Palace. Recently at that time, arabics where expelled from the Peninsula and they didn´t want to have anything from them to remind them their power over Spain and Portugal. In that way the clock arrived to the far far away Province of Honduras and that clock is still in the Cathedral until today. The fantastic detail about this clock is that is working marvelously and with great precision these day. It´s considered one of the greatest historical treasures
in Honduras. It´s impossible not to come and visit the beautiful colonial city of Comayagua without taking a look of this old and well preserved artifact right in the Cathedral.Written July 1, 2014This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Claudio Roberto SSan Pedro Sula, Honduras1,200 contributionsToo many people working, it's not safe are among the things that don't let you enjoy this place. I would go there just if I have to go to visit a client in tjhe area.Written October 17, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SolomonChisinau District, Moldova87 contributionsIf you are looking for a reliable service , elegant atmosphere , cool fresh patio and choices of wines from Australia to South Africa , this place is for you .
The greatest thing about The Winery is that in addition to the cold cuts and cheese platter they can deliver to you pizza from the restaurant Carmela .
The combination of enjoying , in a romantic patio , your bottle of wine with (amongst the best in honduras ) pizzas, is truly pleasant .
Highly recommended .
