- Jürgen SFriedrichshafen, Germany4 contributionsMust see, very interesting place with old Mayan buildings. Very clean and the guides are well educated.Written April 3, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- MikeCentral Florida, FL9 contributionsWe were walking by & I was taking a picture of my wife & this guy that looked like a Mayan Indian named Gary, made me laugh, got a picture with him & just the sign.Written March 30, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Myo MCoquitlam, Canada23,685 contributionsAs had been the case at the national museums & national palaces visited elsewhere in South & Central Americas (with or without actually being called as those for history), it was my initial expectation of this museum to be one for the national history but which instead turned out to be some "multi-themed" kind of museum with yes history as one of the themes (specifically the colonial history with an "emphasis on slavery" as can be learned from a number of big info displays & also to see some text-and-sketch depictions of piracy in the colonial time) but also including non-history themes from modern art (not too impressive of a collection of "small paintings" though) to Mayan archaeology (just fairly few artifacts in scattered glass cases) to ecology as relating to birds & insects which are native to the country (some different species in limited numbers but some stuffed birds quite impressive to look at) with each theme just kind of "lightly touched on", I would say, so just not much time is needed to cover the two levels of this museum. And so actually, more than by the pretty average interior, I was impressed by an "outward grandness" of this long rectangular heritage-styled building with a nice lawn in front for a great view from either end of the building (definitely on a smaller scale but generally in a similar style as the Palacio Nacionals elsewhere in Central America such as those of Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala & Mexico).
And not too close to this museum but just on the same side of the Creek are "2 landmarks" of the country, namely Baron Bliss Lighthouse & the colorful 'Belize' sign (at a "serene location" right by the sea should not be missed for some great pics not just with one but with both landmarks in "the same pic"). .Written January 16, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. And yes, after the walk around the building & taking a peek inside from the entrance was just heading back out due to the admission (which I never had to pay on my cathedral visits except at some big cathedrals with museums & such inside which I'm quite sure is not the case inside this one).
And actually just across the street from one side of this cathedral is the Government House which is a 2-storied beautiful heritage building with a spacious front lawn & a not-too-high lovely fence (but closed to public at the time due to some renovation or such going on). And also nearby, at just about a 5-minute walk from this cathedral (by heading back along the street between this cathedral & the Government House in the direction of downtown but a right turn shortly after leaving) is the waterfront area like a "long promenade" from which there's a view of both the Creek & the sea beyond (from near one end of the promenade).Written January 17, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We did it all- ruins, nature walks, ATM cave, beaches, and snorkelling...nothing matched the experience of the gentle tubing through the caves and jungle. So relaxing and adventurous at the same time!
We drove to the park and signed up with our guide, Reggie, right there. He had the best vibe - extremely chill and super knowledgeable. This is the guy you want if you want to relax but also have a lot of questions! He customizes the experience to you.
We heard that the Crystal Cave was also worth seeing but weren't sure if we would feel like getting off of our tubes and hiking deeper into the cave system to that spot. Reggie told us we could decide later and pay at the end so we would know what we were getting before paying. He made things very easy for us and even carried our tubes. It was obvious that he loves his job and truly appreciates the wonder and awe of the surroundings. I would've done this exact same tour with him every day if we had more time.
At the end of the trip, Reggie connected us with the local artists in the market area. His wife creates beautiful butterfly art, so he showed us her shop which is right next to Amir, the coconut and pineapple guy! Amir will hook you up with a hollow pineapple that you can fill with rum and pineapple juice - he lets YOU pour the rum and the pineapples have free refills. Worth it!
If you do one thing in Belize, this is it. Connect with Reggie by finding his shop in the market - Shanz Cave Tubing Gift Shop or looking up the shop on FB and sending him a message.
P.S. The Crystal Cave IS worth it so definitely add that to your adventure...you can just do the quick tour not the 7 mile hike ;-)Written March 4, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There were 3 in our party - us and our adult daughter.
This was the high point of our Princess cruise, and was certainly far superior to an "organized" excursion. With this guide, we were able to tailor our tour to stop when and where we wanted to, spend as much time as we wanted to, and see what we wanted to. Julian is very knowledgeable about the Mayan history as well as the culture of Belize. Well, he grew up there, so what would you expect? In all respects, our experience with this company was outstanding - they accommodated the change in schedule when Princess switched days of our visit, and he was exactly where they said he'd be waiting for us at the terminal gate! Julian's driving was super - he didn't scare us one single time! We recommend Discounted Belize Shuttles and Tours without reservation - they truly deliver top value.Written February 19, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. no pressure.
Sherri quickly established what kind of jewelry we were looking for and was able to present many options.
With the help of Chris we where able to find a suitable price on a beautiful set of dark blue Tanzanite earrings.
This is are second time working with diamonds international. Once in cozumel. I like the Belize store more.
I don’t believe you can ever go wrong buying from diamonds international.
We were worried about making it back onto our ship on time being we just got back from a 5.5 hour excursion.
They made the process easy and seamless.

Have a handy online prebooking link that you can trust. We used them several times while in Belize and they never disappointed. Denny responds very quickly via text or emails.

We had a great conversation about his heart and care for the children of Belize. He has a wonderful sense of humor and a joyous soul.
His knowledge of the country, the roads, and the BIRDS is second-to-none! At no point did we every feel unsafe. He actually made our trip all the better.
I look forward to working with him again in the future.Written January 14, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. What made it truly remarkable was our fantastic tour guide, Dennis, who brought the ancient city to life with his extensive knowledge and captivating storytelling. I highly recommend his guided tours to anyone seeking an unforgettable experience.Written May 31, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - EuromericanThe Netherlands3 contributionsWe had a fantastic day with Jordi and Luis! The guide knows a lot and ensures you're having the best time. They're interested in hearing about the lives and countries of their tourists while telling you all about Belize. Would absolutely recommend booking with this company.Written May 31, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Syvanna Ponce1 contributionEveryone was super nice. Dario was an amazing guide and very knowledgeable. He made the trip so much fun. He did an amazing job! It was an amazing experience over all. The owner Yhony was in constant contact with me, from the beginning when I booked the excursion until I arrived months later to answer any questions. I highly recommend using them. They pick you up at the terminal in a vehicle with air conditioning and you don’t have to carry your tubes up to the beginning spot. Best trip ever! And the tamales were amazing.Written May 20, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Jasmine E1 contributionI was beyond impressed with my experience with VIV Tours. Abnar 1, Abnar 2, and Barry! I went kayaking through the caves and thourofubky enjoyed the extra time the guides took to point out and explain different things about the area and culture. The meal offered on the way back was incredible! I will definitely book a tour through them on my next trip to Belize ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Written May 10, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - GsullivanKalispell, MT4 contributionsWe’ve traveled to Belize several times and have used all the big car rental names… this was our first time trying Car One and we’ll never go back to Avis, Budget or National. First of all our flight was delayed by nearly 3 hours but Diana at Car One stayed after hours to make sure we got our vehicle. Her customer service was outstanding and gave us some great local advice about Belize City and travel to Placencia. The Jeep Patriot worked great for our 3 week trip… no problems or issues. I would highly recommend Car One for anyone renting a car in Belize… they have the best prices and can’t say enough good things about the staff (particularly Diana).Written January 27, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
