- Kelly K4 contributionsThis was my favorite part of Belize! We did it all- ruins, nature walks, ATM cave, beaches, and snorkelling...nothing matched the experience of the gentle tubing through the caves and jungle. So relaxing and adventurous at the same time!
We drove to the park and signed up with our guide, Reggie, right there. He had the best vibe - extremely chill and super knowledgeable. This is the guy you want if you want to relax but also have a lot of questions! He customizes the experience to you.
We heard that the Crystal Cave was also worth seeing but weren't sure if we would feel like getting off of our tubes and hiking deeper into the cave system to that spot. Reggie told us we could decide later and pay at the end so we would know what we were getting before paying. He made things very easy for us and even carried our tubes. It was obvious that he loves his job and truly appreciates the wonder and awe of the surroundings. I would've done this exact same tour with him every day if we had more time.
At the end of the trip, Reggie connected us with the local artists in the market area. His wife creates beautiful butterfly art, so he showed us her shop which is right next to Amir, the coconut and pineapple guy! Amir will hook you up with a hollow pineapple that you can fill with rum and pineapple juice - he lets YOU pour the rum and the pineapples have free refills. Worth it!
If you do one thing in Belize, this is it. Connect with Reggie by finding his shop in the market - Shanz Cave Tubing Gift Shop or looking up the shop on FB and sending him a message.
P.S. The Crystal Cave IS worth it so definitely add that to your adventure...you can just do the quick tour not the 7 mile hike ;-)Written March 4, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We took a 15 minute easy walk through the rainforest and floated down the river on tubes through a beautiful cave. That was followed by zip lining - 6 lines over the forest canopy. Our tour guide was Aka Brown Sugar. Very knowledgeable, accommodating and passionate about great customer experience. He took us to get a local lunch nearby and that was awesome! This was easy enough for mummy (76 years) and our son (10 years).Written March 15, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Bob W1 contributionI loved the tubing, one of the best experiences in my life. The tour taught me about Belize’s rich culture and history. I also want to thank rooster for giving me a memorable experience that I will never forgetWritten February 22, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BoardingPass164212Richland, WA4 contributionsA bit confusing at the beginning as we were anticipating a private tour, they had it that we were a group tour. All turned out amazing, Ellsworth was our driver and he showed us a private experience we will never forget, thank you my friend!! Lunch was not our favorite as we have picky eaters in our group and there were not any choices. The owner made sure we got our private tour and we made sure we paid for what we got, thank you Butts up and Ellsworth.Written February 9, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jaimie W2 contributionsWe did a tour of Xunantunich Mayan Ruins, ziplined, and kayaked the caves branch river with V.I.V. tours while staying in San Ignacio and couldn't have more great things to say about them. The lunch was tasty, the price was reasonable, and the guides were very knowledgeable and fun. They were able to accommodate a last minute request for the tour (we contacted them at 7pm the evening before) and even picked us up from our hotel. 10 out of 10 recommend these guys!Written February 12, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Chris DunnTemecula, CA22 contributionsThis was my second time with King David , he is the best around when it comes to seeing what Belize has to offer , I always feel safe knowing I'll get back to the ship on time , we dropped off school supplies to a local school and cave tubing. And had a awesome lunch on the way back . He is always on his A game, knowing what each guest needs or requires for each tour, my friend and I are over weight and he was very patient and understanding of what we needed . You know you're in good hands with the King . Don't hesitate to book . David keep up the great work. - bobglass1959georgetown, ky4 contributionsI booked the sharks & rays snorkel excursion in advance directly through this company, not Carnival. Natalie meet us at the pier. She directed us to a shady spot while the rest of our group disembarked. Just around the corner from the Carnival dock was a smaller dock with our boat awaiting. Captain Mark was skilled & kind to a fat, old crippled man!
45 minute boat ride out to Caye Caulker. Bathroom break & ordered lunch for after snorkeling.
Sharks & rays were on a sand bar just belly deep. Mark chummed the water & here they came. As close as you want to get! Natalie patiently let everyone touch sharks & rays. Then snorkeling on the reef.
With 2 knee replacements I'm no longer a strong swimmer. It was a drift snorkel.
After 30 minutes I was simply out of gas. No problem...Natalie, a certified rescue swimmer, had plenty of motor to tow me back to the boat.
She was not only a beautiful woman but strong!
Then back to Caye for lunch. 2 lobster dinners for $45. What a bargain.
After lunch we walked down the beach. Found some beautiful wood carving.
Wonderful island I could easily spend 2-4 weeks in the winter.
On the opposite side of the island we hand feed juvenile tarpon...awesome!
On the ride back Captain Mark pointed out a osprey. I asked & he turned to get a closer look. Thank you sir.
Arriving back at the dock Natalie loaded us up in a van. Took us to a monster gift shop for post cards she was kind enough to buy postage & mail. Then back to Carnival.
I was happy to give her a generous tip.
Highly recommend this excursion company.Written March 16, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Everything was perfect and we had a great experience with transportation, tubing & lunch. Luis is very friendly and knowledgeable. There was a little bit of a walk with the tubes to get to the river but it wasn't bad at all. When we were finished he took us back to our Airbnb so we could gather our luggage and he took us a new hotel that we decided to stay at. I would highly recommend!Written May 20, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Tonia M120 contributionsThis was a great excursion. We felt a bit "Indiana Jones" as we traveled by bus and Jungle cruise to get to the ruins. We were able to climb the ruins and take a lot of photos. We were just ahead of the cruise line excursion, so we had extra time and we had photos without a crowd of people in them. We saw crocodiles, several species of birds, and howler monkeys. It was fun! The included lunch was very good. We were not worried about missing our cruise, even when our time on land was shortened by an hour. Our guide assured us we would be returned in time and we had time to spare.Written March 14, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Debbie A1 contributionWe took an all day tour with Randy. Ruins, zip lining and cave tubing.
This trip was customized for us and it wasn't a large group. (Just us 4)
We Highly recommend it.
Randy, our guide, was the best.
He had lots of info on Belize which was really interesting.
He made our day for sure!Written February 26, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Bus ride with narrated tour to the rainforest with a hike to the river entry where your guide will tie your group together and you will enjoy a lazy river ride through the longest cave. Josh got us thru the shallows. After tubing there is a changing area and a couple souvenir vendors and food that can be ordered.
This is not an extreme white water rafting ride, it is suitable for children. It was a novel experience and we enjoyed it.Written January 19, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Will definitely dive with them again.Written January 22, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Michelle DCincinnati, OH174 contributionsI hope this is the right place to review my experience- we were on a cruise ship and this was one of our excursions! We did snorkeling with this company and Bruce was one of our guides. It was SO much fun and the barrier reef is incredible! 10/10 highly recommend!
Afterwards we had another excursion and went to Altun Ha. I forget our guides name, but she was great as well. We are a 74 year young couple from California who at the last minute communicated with Charlie and received a very prompt and affirmative response. We emailed on a Sunday night, received a response early Monday and had our adventure the very next day. Charlie is one of the most pleasant, caring, informative and fun guides we have had during our many, many independent travels. We had a very pleasant, easy walk through the rain forest with Charlie, learning a great deal about the flora and fauna. Charlie even carried our tubes for us, This was a tandem cave tubing experience where Charlie pulled us along the very easy current in the caves and river. He was extremely safety conscious, patient and a genuine pleasure to spend the several hours we had with him. At the end of the adventure we were very pleased to have lunch included in a very local and pleasant restaurant. His son also runs tours under his business. They do cruise ship groups as well. If you want to go tandem cave tubing, you must connect with Charlie. Nothing scary at all!Written March 8, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Traci j6Smithfield, UT5 contributionsWe were a group of 12 that went with Nefi on the Laminia Mayan Ruins tour. Nefi was a fabulous tour guide. He was knowledgeable about the area and very kind. We took a ride on a speedboat up the river to the ruins. We saw howler monkeys, many exotic birds, turtles, and a crocodile. He shared with us and LDS view of the ruins. He feed us a Belizian breakfast and lunch. Our ship was late but he was able to adjust our tour to our time frame. We will definitely use him as a tour guide next time we come to Belize.Written March 14, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
