- Johanna KDawsonville, GA48 contributionsMy friend & I were on a cruise excursion & thought the Crystal cave with tubes & lunch would be fun !! It was over an hour bus ride but our guide Peter made it so fun & interesting !! He told us about Belize, sang a song, made us laugh, it was a great trip !! The caves were huge inside some parts & Peter was very knowledgeable about the cave which made it interesting. We’re (senior citizens) & he made sure we were safe & helped us when needed, which wasn’t very much Lol. The food was good but the drink I ordered was even better !! Overall a great experience !!Written September 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- MikeCentral Florida, FL14 contributionsWe were walking by & I was taking a picture of my wife & this guy that looked like a Mayan Indian named Gary, made me laugh, got a picture with him & just the sign.Written March 30, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Myo MCoquitlam, Canada26,941 contributionsJust one of a "modest stature" is how I would describe this brick cathedral (with not two but just one tower and no high & wide front facade or such) but which yet is a charming one which I would say is also in part due to its "nice & neat" grounds (mainly a small lawn but also like a mini-garden with a pathway along the edge which goes all the way around the Cathedral). And yes, after the walk around the building & taking a peek inside from the entrance was just heading back out due to the admission (which I never had to pay on my cathedral visits except at some big cathedrals with museums & such inside which I'm quite sure is not the case inside this one).
And actually just across the street from one side of this cathedral is the Government House which is a 2-storied beautiful heritage building with a spacious front lawn & a not-too-high lovely fence (but closed to public at the time due to some renovation or such going on). And also nearby, at just about a 5-minute walk from this cathedral (by heading back along the street between this cathedral & the Government House in the direction of downtown but a right turn shortly after leaving) is the waterfront area like a "long promenade" from which there's a view of both the Creek & the sea beyond (from near one end of the promenade).Written January 17, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The area is easy to access.Written October 11, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- BrakiWorldTravelerBelgrade, Serbia19,452 contributionsThis house is at the southermost point visitors should go, to see anything barely interesting in this uninviting town. The house is famous for Queen Elisabeth staying there during the British rule.
It's across the brick St. John's Church, and at the time of our visit it was fenced with workers inside renovating it.
It's better seen from the sea from your tender boat when going to/from your ship (cruise ships aren't docking, but tendering in Belize).Written March 3, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It’s a cute place right on the water and also includes a playground so it’s definitely fun for families with small children.Written January 26, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Calon Keen1 contributionI didn't want to go here because I heard a lot of stories about going in city but we tried it and survived. Area is very small and not much to see. It was amazing though to see how they set everything up differently. If you want to see it and not afraid of the city's stories then go see.Written July 4, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BrakiWorldTravelerBelgrade, Serbia19,452 contributionsThis colonial style Supreme Court bldg is one of only two buildings worth seeing in Belize's major city.
It stands at the beginning of the main Albert St, while the other one - the St. John's Church is at its end.
However, it's just a quick photo stop and nothing more.Written March 3, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There are no trees or other shade, so a visit in daytime will be hot! Not sure whether a visit at other hours would be considered 'safe'.Written October 20, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jaybeeFLPalm Harbor, FL3,422 contributionsAlthough it memorializes Belize's independence from British Honduras, it is one of the least noteworthy monuments I have seen in most countries. We passed by it on our 1.5 hour horse and buggy tour of the city and had the driver not pointed it out and given us its history we probably wouldn't even have photographed it! Oh well, this is Belize after all and as our guide explained, they view themselves as a third world country.Written January 28, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BrakiWorldTravelerBelgrade, Serbia19,452 contributionsThis Church is close if you're visiting the Museum of Belize in the northern part of town. Looking the house exterior you wouldn't expect it to be a Church unless you see the plaques in front.
During our visit it was closed, so we couldn't enter it, but however it was nice to see that local touch in a town that hasn't much to offer to tourists.Written March 3, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
