Rose, our very friendly guide, shared a high degree of geological and historical knowledge as she discussed the karst formations and Mayan use of the cave more than a 1000 years ago.
We went to St. Herman's Cave with a guide from Belize Inland Tours and were able to go cave tubing which I highly recommend.

We visited for 8 days with island expositions, the crew were great, the island very special, loved the snorkelling, bird viewing , hermit crabs, remoteness, blue hole.
The island is full of iguanas, which you'll see as you walk around and is house to what they call the red footed booby birds, or the Frigate birds.

From our guide Herman who gave us the low down on Belize and kept us entertained on the 90 min bus ride to our cave tubing guide Micheal who was a wealth of knowledge about the local floral and fawns this trip was...
Our guide was very informative, helpful, and safety conscious on the easy hike through the jungle to get to the launch point on the river and also through the float through the mile long cave.

The tour is a great mixture of walking/swimming through a river inside the cave - the temperature is very comfortable - , a small climb inside the cave and a tour of Mayan artifacts and human remains.
He was very knowledgeable and encouraging as we forded the river (3 times in and 3 times back), swam through the cave entrance (and a few other areas, depending on your height), and climbed through and up many rocks.
