W. P. Franklin North Campground
#1 of 3 Nature & Parks in Alva
In short excellent park on a little island big enough for about 36 rigs.
It’s a small park right on the Caloosahatchee river, with every site abutting the water.

Our walk included a stop on the Caloosahatchie River which is stunningly beautiful at this park.Highly recommended for a change of scenery to old Florida.

Babcock Ranch Preserve Punta Gorda 11.9 mi away
#4 of 16 Nature & Parks in Punta Gorda
It just offers the best of everything; preserving Old Florida, nature, animals, ecosystems, and history as well as surreal beauty.
I think it's very different to take this tour in the summer times when it's rainy season than in the dry season, because it's so much water in the park and you are driving with an old school bus into the water.

Florida Power & Light has erected this park where warm water is pumped into this artificial estuary to allow the gentle giants to swim and enjoy when it is too cold in the Gulf of Mexico.
Wonderful park to explore
