I'm fairly new to campgrounds, never liked the idea of camping much, but this state park has changed my opinion completely.
I have now stayed at this park 3 times this year and plan to stay a few more times. The park itself is clean, quiet, and the staff is extremely friendly. If you camp here, I do recommend verifying which spot you'll be in first because some spots have a lot of privacy and space, while others are close together.
The biggest plus to this camping location is that it is close to so many other things. Within 30 minutes, you have civilization, but also, Canyon Lake, Apache Trail, multiple old west tourist sites, great hiking choices in the superstition mountains, and a decent OHV area. Plenty to do.

We arrived here a little late in the day, so many of the storefronts were closed. We did take the mine tour, and it was really good. It was fairly short, about 30 minutes, but very interesting and informative. Our guide did a great job. If we had the chance to experience some of the other offerings, I'm sure they would have been good too.

Wasn't sure what to expect but went to check it out anyway. It is a small museum, but has a decent set of displays that represent the life and history of this area. There is a guide there who added so much more local history through conversation. The outside of the museum is set up with a path that leads you along different displays, mostly about mining in the area. There is a memorial bench and area dedicated to 3 children and their father who perished in a plane crash near the site. This was very touching.

Silly Mountain is very accessible and doable for most levels of ability. The trails are well marked, and most are not too steep. MUST bring your own water. Nice views from the top towards the Superstition Mountains east and Apache Junction west.

first hike in many years but was not difficult. It is a little rocky in some parts but was good exercise without being to challenging. Benches located on the lower part along the way if needed.

Interesting to hear about history of the area. Didnt realize how the area had changed over time. Enjoyed the weather.

Trail was great for intermediate level hikers. The trail provided some great views; especially the prayer hands. This time of year had some great vegetation. I would definitely recommend this hiking experience- it is located in the lost Dutchman state park.

Boots was our tour guide. She was fantastic! I have lived in the desert for a while, but I will admit I learned so much of the area from her. I recommend the 90 minute tour, and make sure to book early in the day to avoid the heat of the day.

Surprisingly good quality musical and comedy production given it’s relatively remote countryside location on the outskirts of metropolitan Phoenix/Mesa. My wife and I have been to a few of their Christmas productions and they never fail to entertain and bring out emotions of traditional Christmases past

The one hour trail ride was great. Long enough to enjoy the fantastic scenery but still could walk when the city slickers were done. Our horses were very well behaved except for the occasional chomping on bushes as we walked past them. If you have a nervous rider don't make the mistake of telling the guide before the trip or they will go overboard checking on them to the point of being very annoying.

We found the flyer for this place in our hotel lobby. Okay, let me start of by saying this wasn't what we expected. We thought we would be ziplining by body horness not by chair. I'm not a fan of rollercoasters and to me this is no different. First, it's location threw us off because it's located in an "old west, ghost town" type location. There's a combined weight requirement of 450lbs or less. So you and your companion will be weighed together. You then are strapped into a double seated chair and locked in. You are instructed to look at the camera for your before picture then away you go. You're riding backwards at 35MPH up to X number of feet in the air then left the top to dangle for minute or so until you start to desend forward back down to the ground at 35MPH but it's the way you stop that really gets you. And then there's the after / landing picture. Both pictures were $15 total. Rides are $12 PP and re-rides are $6PP.

Nice working class bar, BUT (or thus?) not a mask to be seen. Lots of folks gather to watch football. Got take-out & enjoyed at home. We like the Pork Tenderloin sandwiches (they’re huge!) but mostly pretty standard fried food pub fare otherwise. Friendly servers.

On my visit mostly regulars were watching football 🏈. The bartender should get a raise as she was solo and the chef too, taking care of all, even me, the new kid. She even partial baked my pizza 🍕 so I could take it home —and finish it there. 4 Stars vs 5 As my observation was no mask wearing with most local patrons coming/going 😷
