The National Cherry Blossom Festival is an annual event in Washington DC that celebrates the beauty of the cherry blossom trees that bloom around the Tidal Basin in the springtime. The festival features a variety of events and activities that showcase Japanese culture and offer fun and entertainment for people of all ages.

One of the main events of the festival is the Cherry Blossom Parade, which features colorful floats, marching bands, and giant helium balloons. The parade travels down Constitution Avenue and attracts thousands of spectators each year.

There are also cultural performances and demonstrations, including traditional Japanese drumming and dancing, and flower-arranging demonstrations. Visitors can also enjoy delicious food and drinks from local vendors and food trucks.

Another popular event during the festival is the Blossom Kite Festival, where visitors can watch kite-flying demonstrations and even participate in a kite-making workshop.

The festival also offers many opportunities to enjoy the beauty of the cherry blossoms, including guided tours and boat rides around the Tidal Basin. Visitors can also attend the Sakura Matsuri Japanese Street Festival, which features traditional Japanese crafts, food, and entertainment.

This event is top no0tch every year. We expect no less from the Library of Congress. However, success breeds popularity and even though it is in the convention center it is too crowded to be able to see the speakers you want and move around the building. It is a 5 star event but when you get blocked from doing what you would like to do, well, then it is less than 5 star. There should be overflow rooms for people to see the most popular speakers. This year the RBG talk was very full and there were likely many hundreds of people shut out from this very popular speaker. if there was a ball room where we could see a screen, it wouldn't be as nice as live but better than missing it. The volunteer staff was wonderful and extremely helpful. I will go back next year and hope for the best.

great light displays. Area was a little small for the amount of travel I had to do to get here from SIlver Spring. Nice time and great value for a free public event

An awesome event for kids and the adult kid at heart.
Plenty of activities, which start with a well planned and orchestrated, timed entry pass and exit from the once a year the public is allowed to come into this restricted area of The White House property.

So many people! I don’t think it was possible to prepare for the crowds everywhere. In the metro, in the parking lots at the Pentagon , in line for the port a potty’s. The race itself was beautiful. The course wound past the Potomac River on the Virginia side past Arlington cemetery, across the Key Bridge into Georgetown, then down into DC Near the Washington monument and memorials then back into VA. The whole thing took most of the day because of the lines but worth doing once in a lifetime.

Nationals Park was turned into a huge light show for Christmas called "Enchant". The main attraction was a huge light maze. They also had an ice skating rink, a Christmas market, and overpriced food concession stands. Children could visit with Santa Claus. There was also entertainment on the main stage. I enjoyed my visit, but it was not worth the money I spent on a ticket.
