- Kathryn C2 contributionsReally cool distillery inside a historic luxury hotel! Very knowledgeable and approachable staff. The bourbon is delicious!Written May 29, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- laurawrphWashington, DC8 contributionsWe’ve been enjoying Catoctin Creek gin and Roundstone Rye whisky for quite some time. We had been meaning to go visit the facility. Finally, we made the trip from DC. It was a great experience. We are familiar with the process of distilling both whisky and gin; we still found the tour informative and fun. We stayed for tasting flights afterwards. Hubby had the brandy flight + an extra pour of the grape brandy (his favorite) and I had the cocktail flight with the substitute of the cocktail of the month for one of the regulars (all great). Staff was very friendly and responsive to questions. We bought some bottle selections to take home.Written May 20, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Robert NUpperco, MD125 contributionsExcellent distillery tour, Sara did a great job as a tour guide! She was very engaged with the entire group, and knew a lot about distilling, we learned a bunch! Also, their Bourbons are delicious!Written May 20, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Kraig MAnnapolis, MD903 contributionsTook an afternoon off the hiking paths of the Shenandoah National Park to discover neighboring Sperryville. The idea of a mountain distillery was inticing- and the Copper Fox did not disappoint. Nestled in the countryside version of an industrial park and adjacent to the Thornton River (really a creek at this point) the site offers a dark, rustic interior or a breezy, creek-side exterior table selection. The product is diverse and quite tasty- i left with 2 bottles. And pricing is modest. Stop here and grab a flight...or 2.Written April 16, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- GAMDtravel1224Augusta, GA18 contributionsStarted our weekend in Luray with a stop here at River Hill. So glad we did! We felt like family, greeted and welcomed warmly. If you aren’t into fruit wines, don’t come for the wine, but it was delicious! We bought a bottle of the strawberry to go; it made a great dessert later in the weekend. The whiskey, bourbon, and more (!) were wonderful, and this coming from someone who normally doesn’t like hard liquor. Thanks, Fred, for convincing me the good stuff doesn’t have to burn! :)Written May 22, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lacey E1 contributionChuck, you got a good thing going. We were welcomed (like family). Everyone on staff was warm and inviting. Got to shake Howard's hand, they were taping American Spirit. The Virginia lightning is as close to the real deal as you can (legally) buy. Overwhelmed with kindness from ALL the staff. We love Mr. December! Thanks again, and we will be back!Written October 16, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- B B2 contributionsWhat a wonderful tour! The guide had deep knowledge of the operation. There was lots of information and a close up view of the whiskey making operation. We got there early and had a few bites (and some whiskey) in the cafe. All of the staff were friendly and up for answering all of our questions. Would definitely go again!Written May 13, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- William MCentreville, VA1 contributionFriendly staff, delicious, creative libations, and they used their facility to produce large-volume containers of hand sanitizer during the height of the pandemic. - TravelDispatchWashington DC, DC1,402 contributionsI sampled the rum, cider, and port barrel aged whiskeys. While they each have a unique character and flavor, I was partial to the smokiness of the port and the light sweetness of the rum barrels. Even more delicious was the “My Cup of Tea” cocktail, which was not only one of the best balanced cocktails I’ve had in a while, it was served with the most adorable little clothespin. Overall, great place to stop by and enjoy 3oz of VA’s finest!Written May 29, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Va5travelerWaynesboro, VA676 contributionsStopped in for a tasting while in the area glad we did. Not far off the beach parking onsite. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable about their products. Because of state laws very limited on amount can serve per person. We enjoyed very much and purchased to take home.

- bds0423New Jersey50 contributionsWe had no idea what to expect since we are wine drinkers. We found cider tasting to be just as much fun as wine! We did a flight of ciders and enjoyed tasting each one as we sat outside on their beautiful patio. We ended up buying two bottles and are really enjoying then at home. An educational and fun experience!Written July 21, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
