This was a great stopover during our Trolley Tour of Nashville. First of all thanks to Dave our driver who really sold our decision to get off and visit Marathon village (stop 7).

After free tasting of the moonshine & rum we ventured along the alley to find Grinders Switch Winery. Although a small surcharge of $5 per person, we were able to sample the dry wine & sweet wine selection on offer. Our server, Sadie guided us through our tasting.

Spot on visit and would highly recommend anyone to stop by and spend 20 minutes in here.

We are members of Harvest Host. We found this place to be very accommodating and interesting. The Muscadine grapes have an earthy quality and are an acquired wine taste. However, we did find a sparkling muscadine wine from this place that we truly enjoyed.

The setting is spectacular. We parked our RV here over night and spent a couple hours exploring, doing a tasting and drinking the wine looking at the back drop of mountains and vines everywhere.

The manager and tasting room lady were both so accommodating. They are super friendly and offer service above the normal expectations. We loved this place and enjoyed out time here. We would recommend a trip here if you are in the east Tennessee area.

Good enough for a serious winelover to enjoy, that is. We found reasonable quality up and down the line and were impressed with this winery's plans for growing and making wine from exclusively Tennessee grapes, where much is now sourced from California and Washington.

This a fun experience after a good meal just down the street. The sample flight is reasonably priced. The staff are extremely welcoming and seem to enjoy introducing novices to mead. But, be sure to ask for the food menu, too. The whole purpose of this review is for me to be able to find the name of this treat the next time we're there: Black Cherry Skillet Corn Cake. These are things that would never have crossed my mind to put together, but I'm so glad they did!!!

This stop was a part of our partial tour of the Upper Cumberland Wine Trail. This was one of our favorites. The wine was good and the staff was so friendly. We enjoyed our time there.

Visited today with my husband and it was not a great experience. The woman serving us acted as if we were inconveniencing her. She barely spoke to us, and when we asked her questions, we got very quick
short answers, not to mention a few that were condescending. No explaining about the wines or winery, just nothing. Both of us left there feeling like we weren't welcome. The wine was pretty good itself, so 2 stars for the overall experience.

Pros: The owner Steve is awesome! He has such a passion for wine and architecture. He is friendly and able to school you on wine without being snooty about it. The interior design is modern while maintaining the historic quality of the building, perfect for downtown Knoxville. The color schemes are chosen with "wine" in mind. Well done Steve! There are a few beers, no drafts, but hey, it's a WINE bar.

The wine he chose for us, I think it was the Swanson Merlot was delicious, the best I can remember ever having. It was from a small boutique Napa valley winery so I would not have found it anywhere else.

We ordered the cheese plate and found it generous and unique with a number of cheeses I had never tried before. The jam was huge and I was tempted to ask for more. Perfect to share with you lady.

Cons: Only one small suggestion. Your bar needs a bar rail. The bar stools throw you forward a bit and the rail on the stool just doesn't cut it. The prices are high but that is really not a criticism as it is what it is. Great wine is expensive.

All in all a perfect place to unwind after work. When you meet someone with a passion for what they do, you know it. Knoxville has it's own sommelier! Interesting fact about that word, It comes from the French for butler. Butler is my last name so Steve, my fellow sommelier, here's to you! If you are a wine person, you must go see Steve. Best success to you in your pursuit.
