Great museum, awesome staff in the gift shop, and amazing Visitor Center combined with a short drive to the tower at Clingmans Dome, the highest point in the Great Smoky Mountains, just a perfect place!
This visitor center is at the enterance of great smoky mountains from Cherokee side, can see elks sitting in ground, also run on river trail along Oconaluftee river, also have old farm house to explore.

This is a great visitor center with ample parking, very helpful park rangers, bathrooms, souvenirs, snacks, etc.

We walked the loop marked "Moderate" difficulty from the Linville Falls Visitor Center, including the side trails to the overlooks.
The first view of a small part of Linville Falls is a short (1/2 mile) and easy hike from the visitors center.

The visitor center is located conveniently near the ferry on Silver Lake but is for the Cape Hatteras National seashore which on Ocracoke includes all of the beach front.
I think the visitor center has the best non-cheesy souvenirs on the island and the rangers that work there are quite helpful

Our first stop in Cherokee was the visitor center where we received helpful info (maps and referrals) by the ladies on duty; they also offered us coffee and/or popcorn.
